If you're within 30 days, they might ... or maybe their return is 14 days.

Well the manager told me that once it's opened the "warranty" will only be covered by Canon. I guess that has nothing to do with it I suppose.

There has been a lot of debate on whether or not 2MP is enough for standard use. I personally say yes for even printing 8x10s. There is some quality loss but not enough for your guests to get up on the frame and say, "Hey you took these with a 2MP and not a 4MP didn't ya!"

Anyway I would recommend you read sites like http://www.stevesdigicams.com or http://www.dpreview.com and draw your own conclusion.

It'll take a good quality conventional camera to beat a good 2MP digital camera under a range of lighting conditions. If you are just an average snapper then 2MP will fit 99% of your needs. 2MP is 1600x1200 which produces pictures larger than most computer screen resolutions, and at a low compression setting can produce excellent quality good-sized photographs. Personally I have a 3MP camera but I think 4MP is starting getting cumbersome for the average user since the photos will end up down-sized and/or compressed anyway... and I just wonder how many photo printers can make good use a 4MP photo.

I don't know why people say things like this, 2mp is great for 8x10 prints even. "Just using it for the web" is total nonsense. Its crap spread by certain people on TV to sell the more expensive 3 or 4 mp cameras. 3 or 4mp would be nice in case you wanted to print something larger than an 8x10 once in a while, but thats it.

The quality of the lens in the camera and the features will have a lot to do with it also.

The Kodak DC4800 wasn't all that bad. I actually regret selling it after I got my Olympus C-2100 UZ. The only bad part about the Kodak was low light pictures but other digicams of the same vintage have poor pictures in the same environment.

edit: but I wouldn't buy a new Kodak. I think the DC4800 was the last decent digicams from Kodak. I hope they realize their mistakes and get with the program. I'm not holding my breath though...

Actually, it's more like:

1mp = great for web use

2mp = 4x6, 5x7, occasional 8x10

3mp = 4x6, 5x7, you will be printing many 8x10, much more freedom to crop

A 3mp camera will definitely give you more detail, and is preferred if you will be printing many 8x10. If you will only print 8x10s once in a while, then a good 2mp camera should be good enough for your needs.

I have only had experience with the Kodak DX3700 which my wife now owns and loves simply because it's super super easy to use. She's taken quite a few pics with it.

Never got to use the 4800 but I remember the mad deals there were on it.

received an email from Officemax today, apparently the A40 is out of stock and OfficeMax will not be getting anymore of them in.

So they cancelled my order. Blah.

Ugh, I really wanted to take advantage of this deal too. Anyone know of any other great Canon (doesn't have to be A40) digital cam deals?

Yeah they canceled me out too. Bunch of tools at OM. They took my order on the 20th of Dec and promised delivery by the 23rd. Then they sent me an email that it would be delayed due to the Holiday. I thought I was all set because they didn't notify me right after Christmas but nooooo.... the tools rescheduled my shipment for 31 Dec. So when 31 Dec comes around they look and say oh we don't have anything to ship...Uh I guess we need to notify the customer. The dopes knew a week earlier that the item was out of stock and discontinued. I called the CSR and they were sorry but there is nothing they could do. No alternative but if I begged they would give me $50 off on another camera. Oh gee I could do that in my sleep with the $50 off $250 coupon.

So I was going to negotiate a lower price on another camera. Ok lets check on the Kodak DX4333 that is on sale this week. Uh.... we're out of stock on that at all our distribution centers too. I give up...

What an outfit. They cancel customer's orders with no consideration and don't have products to sell. Why do people like this stay in business? You'd think that the internet presents a opportunity to them but no.... let's just poop on our customers. I guess they will learn about marketing 101 where 1 customer will tell 3 people about a positve experience but one 1 customer will tell 9 other people about a negative experience. With the internet I think the ratio is much higher for negative experiences, probably in the thousands. Smart companies try to appease their customers no matter what because they know that the money it costs is much cheaper than the lost business from future customers.:disgust:
