Canon A60 for 225$ AC - 20$ MIR if purchased with memory.

Hey was noticing that the dell site got the canon a60 finally. Their price is 249.99, and the home office hotdeals page says that all digicams are 10% off and all 50$ and up S&P items are shipped free. There's also a twenty dollar rebate that comes with the camera. Has to be ordered by phone for now though because when I tried to order it through the website, the discount wasn't automatically added and it was still going to charge shipping...plus I couldn't find where to print the rebate form. So I invested 10 minutes and did a phone order. After explaining everything and being on hold for a little while, I was able to order the camera for 225$ and I was told that the 20$ mir form is shipped with the camera. And as a little bonus, dell.com would have charged me tax which would have been 13 bucks but I didn't get charged when I did the phone order. I couldn't see why a coupon couldn't be put on top of the order also to sweeten the deal some. Pretty nice deal imo. I don't post hotdeals/anything often so I hope this was written well enough.

Although, this is a good price... it's beyond me why anyone would buy a digicam below 3mp nowadays. With 4 and 5mp cameras out there for a little more (Minolta S404, 4mp, 4x opt. zoom, CF can be had for $278)....

Really, if you are interested at all with printing anything other than a 3x5 or maybe a 4x6 photo, looks at a higher res model.

But, like I said, this is a good price and a great camera if you never want to print bigger than 3x5.

The a60 is slightly better from reviews...newer model of the same thing. And ross, there's a deal for the a70 from dell for 280 which is also pretty nice. I made another thread for it.

True, unless you're really tight on money. I'd spring for the extra money and get a 3 or greater. And I have a A40...and it's really good.

I think for resale value's sake and printing pics 8x10 I'd probably get the A70.

Argh why did I buy a new Honda Accord last year? I swear it's the biggest "impulse buy" I have ever done.

Oh, also the 60 lacks VGA movie mode.

So, to reiterate:

A70 = 3mp, VGA Movie Mode
A60 = 2mp, no VGA Movie Mode

Everything else is the same, except for the difference in color Looked at the A70 yesterday, it is pretty nice. But if I remember correctly, the body on the A40/20's fit nicer in the hand.
