hey Guts,
I just placed an order with Staples with the pricematched canon bjc-6000, how do I find out its the s450 printer or if I got the right thing?

1 more question, uh...
if I return this printer, do I have to return the paper that came free with the coupon with $50+ purchase?

Smokin,
The order is for the S450. You should have received the confirmation email on your order that says that even though it showed the 6000 on their website.
I called to cancel my order but was too late and she did confirm it's the s450. Another darn return!
I just dealt with the 10pack scsi fiasco, now this. Sometimes I think UPS picks up more returns than it makes deliveries!

I should have known something was wrong because they had been discontinued in their clearance section a couple of months ago for $129.
Good question about the paper, I ordered that too. I'm going to return it all though because of Staples track record with charging your credit card in mysterious ways.

I have seen the S450 everywhere and it's my thinking that it's the printer that's replacing the 6000. It looks nice but.... not experience with it yet and no $50 rebate, but it's $149 at CostCo.

Staples is evil...

i just tried to order the printer... and they said that they are not authorized to pricematch this because they do not accept "instant rebates" or "instant coupons". anyone have any luck with this?

Well you can inform them it's not an instant coupon or an instant rebate but a price drop. That's different.

call again, this time dont mention anything about "rebates" because staples CSR's are somewhat ignorant (at least some of em are ) and confuse real rebates with "instant" rebates. Hopefully you will get a more enlightened CSR person who will help you out

Since this printer seems to be being replaced by the S450 Model, would it do any good to get a raincheck...Are they discontinued?

Thanks...

I got in the great deal and just installed it today. It prints very well. I have only tried black text, but it is incredibly fast. Thank you for posting this. I have a question though... I got the $50 rebate printed up for me as well as the $20 GC. I know it says for printers $99+. Would this be considered, or would it be a waste of a stamp? I'm wondering why the system would print me up a copy of the rebate form if it is disqualified... Hmmm...

Listen to this... after a total of 3 hours on the phone with Staples and Best Buy, i said to heck with staples and went to best buy. I finally convienced staples to give me the pricematch... but then they told me that they would have to charge me $30+ dollars for the next day shipping that best buy would charge if i bought it on-line or out of the catalog. even when i told them that i was going to buy it from the store... they said they had to charge me for the shipping. just to tick them off, i had them check their inventory for the 6000 printer... they had none... so i asked them if they were substituting another printer for it. they said they were replacing the 6000 with an 800 series HP printer. when i asked if they had any of those, of course the answer was no. i then asked them why they felt the need to call and bother me at work, when they could not possible sell me either the printer i wanted or its replacement... they had no answer to that and i mentioned that this incident would not help their already severly tarnished reputation with the internet community, and hung up and that poor idiot CSR who called me... I then went to best buy and picked up my $30 printer, and told the 5 people who were also there to buy the same printer that staples tried to pull one over on me and gave them a good warning... oh well, jerks!!!!

I talked to 2 people at staples yesterday about this, the first told me they wouldn't pricematch since bestbuy was out of stock. The second guy, while slow was going to match it but then found out THEY were out of stock already so I was disappointed. As luck would have it though my dad told his deal hunting co-worker about it today and he sold me 1 of the 2 he bought for $80 since I've done some computer work for him....yay. It seems to be a nice printer, its a little large though!

Yea, I had a weird conversation with a CSR that was a day late in calling me back after I faxed her the ad. She started talking about how they couldn't pricematch blah, blah, blah, and finally I interrupted her and said that it didn't matter since they are substituting the S450. "Oh" she said not even aware that they don't have the 6000 in stock , then she was nice enough to tell me that I could keep the box of paper even though I was returning the printer.

Staples has actually been "bery bery good to me" (old SNL) this week with the 2 for 1 deals(typos) on the Motorola FRS 250's and the 2-fer deal on the GPS at the B&M.

Officemax has this printer for $130, anyone know if they would pricematch bestbuy? If they do the 155% pricematch, you could get it for a couple dollars after tax and rebate.

Greetings,

...anyone know who this printer compairs to the Epson Stylus Color 800? I am happy with the Espon, but for this price, what the hell! Also, I am a "college guy" too, who prints a *bazillion* color slides, charts, graphs each semester, so like to know how the quality compairs...

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Also, I have always liked Epson and HP printers, but stayed away from Canon...I just checked eGay and this model doesn;t seem to be too popular...tons being auctioned with very few bids

...Is this reflective of the overall quality?

Again, if you think this would print better than my Epson Stylus 800, let me know...I am jones'in for some new toys!

sorry for posting so many times, but wanted to answer the question about OfficeMax and their 155% price match policy:

The 155% Low Price Guarantee does not apply to the following product categories: printers, digital photography, computer peripherals, scanners, networking devices, personal digital assistants, electronic organizers, notebook & desktop computers, memory, CD-ROM, hard drives and software. For these product categories OfficeMax will match the advertised price of an identical item but will not give you a credit for 55% of the difference.

Just picked it up from Best Buy. I'll use the $20.00 gift card when it comes in for a USB cable. Great deal!

Why do you need a USB cable? You bought the USB converter kit? If so, how much? No one posted how this printer would compare to my Epson 800, but for $30.00 clams, you can't beat it...I bought two

...with the price of ink and paper, one could practically use it till the ink runs out, then dispose of it and still save money

Just to let anyone know, I called today and asked if they had received any more of these printer. They put me on hold, and then returned to ask if I had received a raincheck...

I said that I had, and they then told me that I would receive a card in the mail and I could go to customer service and retrieve my printer then.

On a huntch, I went to BB anyway, and I found 3 more of the printers on the shelf...Why not just tell me that they had them in stock?

Anyway, even if discontinued, they said that all rainchecks should be filled.

Good Luck

There were more of these printers coming in at my nearby Best Buy too. It appears they have a lot of stock of this discontinued printer and am aiming to just get rid of it all.

Can anyone who bought this printer verify something for me? Well I had a terrible experience with my old Canon BJC printer. Not only was the printing quality poor, the printer took forever to just print one page. Needless to say, I replaced it and bought myself an HP and I haven't had any problem with it yet.

ignorus, which store are you at? and when does the sale expire again?

Ranger X, the print quality is decent, very good some might say. and no it doesnt take forever. the only thing that seems to be confirmed is that these canons do a lot of cleaning (or some say they're just parking). however these are very easy to refill.

for the price it just can't be beat, and its not even a low, cheap model either. it holds both black and color at the same time. for the best photo prints, the black tanks can be substituted with photo ink for the best results. i hope i get a chance to get another one for basic printing for my mom =)

RangerX.... my friend had one of these for about 6 months before i got mine... it prints about 10 ppm black, and 5-6 ppm color... the black text is great quality. we even printed some 8X10 color photos on some photo paper with the photo ink and we were both amazed... this is indeed an excellent printer for $30.....

Getting the photo ink cartridge would effective more than double the cost of the printer. But if you're planning to print photos, ones that you actually care about keeping, you'll need that photo ink cartridge. Without it, photo prints are blah. With it, output is indeed very nice on photo paper.
