You people talk about cheap to refill these 6000. I'm about to pick mine up from Best Buy and was wondering if there is a cheap way to refill these. If they work like the other Canons I have owned, they burn through the ink. I still love the printer though.

Please advise.

If you go to Onvia you can get them (ink tanks) for $9.99 (black) and $8.99 (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Cyan-Photo, Magenta-Photo, Black-Photo) and free shipping. I bought some from Buy.com (but you have to pay shipping) before but the sites down right now so I can't check the prices right now.

I've never done this, but a buddy of mine said that he uses a syringe with different colored inks to refill his cartridges. He says it works fine and the ink is very cheap in big bottles rather than prepackaged in the cartridges. Has anyone else done this???

I don't know about the color inks, but the black ink is almost guaranteed not to be the same on those off-brand refill kits as Canon's black pigmented ink.

I've used refill kits for years on Canon printers. They work great, but you can only refill a cartridge a few times before they need to be replaced.

I might try refilling the cartridges with ink if I CAN GET THE STUPID INK TO FLOW IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! I've done a million head cleanings (regular and "deep clean&quot and printed a million test pages. The color sometimes starts in the beginning of the print, but then quits several lines later.

Any suggestions???

Still on sale this week (July 30 - Aug 5). The $50 Rebate is for printers bought Jan 30 - Sept 30,2000. Looks like the the S450 (no $ 50 rebate) replaces the BJC-6000, thats is why they want to get rid of it with MIR. Just wonderding if this are factory refurbished units. Checked PriceWatch and the lowest was about $79 for refurbished units. Dropped by my local BB, and they looked new and they had it on stock.

In Best Buy's ad this week, the printer was listed at $80.00 AFTER rebates...are you sure they're still on sale?

Just curious...Does Circuit City pricematch (better than 100%)? They have this printer on sale for $79.99 after the $50.00 rebate ($129.99 before rebate)...Could be a possibility

SKORPI0, these are brand new. If you go to the Canon website (http://www.ccsi.canon.com/bjc/bjc6000/index.html) for the printer you'll notice that the MSRP has dropped to $99. So Best Buy is only selling it $20 less than MSRP.

It's a great printer for the $29 price, especially considering that I bought one over one year ago for $250.

You didn't look hard enough...Canon lists the MSRP at $99.99 AFTER a $50 rebate...That means BB currently has it for $70.00 below MSRP, NOT $20

Bestbuy should upgrade their server.

This is what I got (8 times out of 10 reload):

Local BB was out of stock, offered me a rain check.
After some discussion, they offered to price match on the BJC 3000,
which is 1 ppm slower, but about half the footprint.

The effect of the price adjustment was that I not only got the
printer for $79.99, with $50 rebate form, but also got the $20 form
from the register.

My mother in law is happy, to boot!

Yep your right didn't look hard enough. Oh well, BTW the BJC-3000 is not worth it. From what I heard the text and color printer is not so good. Should try to get them to get you the S450 for the price (nigh impossible) because I believe this is the same as the 6000 except for the smaller footprint.

Went to my local Best Buy yesterday to see if I could pick up a 6000 (yeah right)...There was a notice saying they would probably not be able to honor all of the rainchecks they had already written.

So, I went to the desk to ask for a rain check (I didn't have anything to lose...) Of course, the dude behind the counter said they couldn't issue any more rainchecks for them. He made it sound as if that was that and there wasn't anthing that could be done...AnandTech Forums to the rescue! "Will Best Buy substitute anything for the 6000," I asked. Walked out with a BJC-3000 and a form for the $50 rebate and a $20 gift card.

The 3000 certainly isn't a 6000 (which I already own), but another printer in my house needed ink and, gift card aside, after the rebate, it was pretty much the same price just to get a new printer!

I've been checking my local Best Buy's in Southern California to see if these puppies ever appear again. At one store, they have a whole bunch stacked up in the "upper stock" area...high above where no one could see them. There were Rain Check forms taped to each one. I was tempted to do a Peter Pan and grab one, but, alas, I'd be cheating someone else out.

I ended up at another store and, volia, they had one on the floor! It was marked at $69.60 "Open Box." I decided to go for it. When I got it home and opened it, I was shocked! It had *clearly* never been used. All of the blue packing tape was still all over it, and the ink cartridges where still sealed. My patience paid off!

Moral of the story? Keep watching for the Open Box deals!

While most would disagree, Best Buy is cool!

Anyone knows if this deal is still on? Also, can I do it online? There're no bestbuys on East Coast.

Yes many of them up above are for rainchecks from over a month ago.. do they really think these people are gonna come and get them a month later? Come on give em to some people that will use them.

The other think I noticed was the amount of multiple rainchecks for the same people up there... arrgghh

I don't think Bestbuy.com has the computer department online yet. There is (was?) a disclaimer on their home page stating that computers/peripherals would be added online at a later date...

Oh, I got a raincheck. Never received a notification. Went to BB a few days later and their shelves were full. I bought one then (around 2 weeks ago). Still haven't gotten the raincheck notification...

Good Luck!!!

I bought one tonight, I figured they would be long gone, but when I was looking around I saw the price on the shelf by the display model, $79.95 -$50.00 mail in rebate, looked up on top of the shelves and there were two sitting there, NOT RAINCHECK HOLDS , Go and see for yourself at your local Best Buy, they are still available!

Funny thing is, I bought ink for my bjc-610 at office depot before going to best buy, the ink for the 610 cost more than the bjc-6000 printer (after rebate) gonna return the ink tomorrow

I have the printer set up and it works great, a little noisy perhaps but fast, and very nice print quality.
