Pretty happy with the transaction. I went for the Kit with EFS 17-55 lens for $1210(AR).

In retrospect I'd rather have saved the $50 and just got the canon 50mm f1.8 prime that I just picked up new for $70. Its a million times better thanthe kit lens, I'll get something for wide angle later.

Ordered on Sunday, shipped on Monday, I had it in my hands Wednesday. Shipping was $10.

For those of you sick of these silly jump through hoops Dell deals this is easy. They are a canon authorized reseller so the Rebate is good for a total of $1157 after rebate.

I was having trouble finding a USED 20d at that price, so why not get a new one with warranty?
20d body only

*EDIT* They are in Jersey so no tax for Cali and New Yorkers!

Did you have to go through any of the up-selling that the NY camera shops put you through?

I tried to buy a camera years ago from one, but wanted it at the advertised price and nothing else. I got yelled at, cursed at, called names, and then hung up on. I'd prefer not to go through that again.

Not at all. I ordered online. No "Call to confirm crap". Just placed the order and got it as advertised. No hassle at all.

BTW I LOVE the 50 1.8 prime. Anyone want a hardley used kit lens for $50? I'm not using it and will probably replace it with the Sigma 18-50 EX.

I am interested. Have you received your camera yet?

My dRebel just die due to high moisture during trip to Hawaii. I have Best Buy service plan for my dRbel but Best Buy can't find it on their system. I lost the original receipt when I moved from Boston to Portland. I was told all service plan are stored in the system, no need for the receipt. Damn Best Buy!

Time to upgrade!

where are you coming from? you sound like a nazi, and you have nothing but a possible problem with one merchant out of thousands years ago in ny to make your case.

save your anti-semitic remarks for your ku klux klan meetings

OP, great post, checked out the reviews and decided to buy, thanks!!

Did it come with USA warranty? Lot's of these NY shysters sell gray market cameras with no warranty.

I spoke with the vice president of sales at canon and they DO honor non-usa warranties, and furthermore canon does not sell ANY cameras without a warranty, the grey market may not have a usa warranty, but it still has a warranty

however, after reading the reviews i have to believe that the camera has a usa warranty and so i bought one myself

it's odd to see how many bigots appear on this forum, always bashing ny "them city sickers" when they are out in the middle of nowhere without a decent education and still marrying their cousins

by the way, can you name all the "NY shysters" you have done business with? you refer to "lots", so how many, one hundred, two hundred? you probably have never dealt with any of them, but you heard about them from grandpa.

also, the term "shyster" refers to attorneys. maybe you should finish high school before you go about impressing everyone with your vast knowledge.

I found this particularly hilarious. Especially after reading your butchery of the English language.

if you're so concerned about the butchery of the english language, perhaps you should begin by the use of complete sentences. you are NOT intelligent enough to comment on the use of the english language little boy

artist,

you seem like you're just out looking for a fight. these other posts haven't been bashing new yorkers or new york in general. apparently you haven't heard much about the brooklyn camera shop scammers. settle down and do some research before you make a fool out of yourself.....well it's too late for that, but still....

take a look at this storefront for example. would you buy a camera from a place like this? probably not, but you will see their ads all over the mags selling cameras for cheap. here's another article
to help educate you on the subject.

another blithering idiot

for all you that believe the bs about ny being the center of all evil, you should remember it's the biggest city we have and has a lot of honest people besides the few maggots that get singled out for publicity.

You should count yourself as the idiot.
Read the article on the link. Nobody is saying NY being the center of all evil. J&R is one good reputable store from NY.

The kit lens is fine. No zoom can match the quality of a prime. Definitely get the kit lens because you can easily sell it for $50 or more if you don't like it or upgrade later. The 50mm v.II f/1.8 lens is tack sharp but is not built to last. Both the 50mm f/1.4 and the 100 f/2.8 are very sharp and have good build quality. It is worth paying more for quality glass.

Wow, maybe it would be a good idea to read the resellerratings posted on some of the online shops and then make an informed decision. I have to admit that the area is noted as a buyer beware location. But like anyplace on earth, there are good and bad mixed together.
If you do a reseller ratings search on some of the paid google ad prices that seem unusually low, you may find a large percentage that are from the NY, NJ area.
Does it mean they are all bad? No.
Should you make sure the place you are sending money to has decent ratings. YES.
If the price seems to low, ask yourself why......

Just an update. I just got my canon rebate. I was initially denied due to missing UPC, which I had in fact included. No clue what happened there, but a quick call to Canon fixed everything.

It is a USA warantee, it is NOT grey market.

The place is in NJ not NY so I don't know where all that stuff came from.

Finally I actually bought my last camera canon A-70 from ButterflyPhoto and found them to be good as well, so they are also a good option as has already been posted.

BTW looks liked they jacked the price up $20 but are now offering "free shipping". still a good deal with the rebate.

Just my $.02

rebate through 7/15, but they have extended it a few times and might again since nikon still has a rebate too.

they must be playing games with shipping and price. I guess it changes day to day, I don't even see the kit listed, just the body only which was out of stock a few days ago. So perhaps this is a bit YMMV. But its still a good price after rebate... I had no problems and am very much enjoying my 20d.

just got back from some shooting on the beach at Margate NJ.

I bought my Toshiba 52" DLP projection screen from these guys too. No hard-selling from them at all - I got my TV at the price they advertised and received it within the week without having someone try sell me extended warranty or overpriced cables. I'd have no problem recommending them to anyone...just my $0.02
