I saw "hot deal" post for one of these so I figured I'd share the joy.

body only

If your dying for the EF-S 15-55 Kit lens

Personally I'm waiting for near Xmas to see all the new DSLRs beat each other down, this price drop seems to be in response to the new Nikon D70 which Rocks, but at this price difference, I can get a $400 lens and the canon for the price of the Nikon body only.

Don't know anything about this retailer, its the cheapest around, so buyer be ware in effect. But hunt around, you can definately get the Kit (if you want the crappy lens which is $100 seperately) for cheaper than the other post, no offense.

FWIW I would get the body and invest in a better lens, the EFS lens is a real cheapo, some like it, but it is NOT compatible with any other body, so if you upgrade you may be stuck with a useless lens. I say buy the body and get a nice midrange Sigma lens or some such.

Sorry for the babbling.

Not true, there are lots of places selling for around $800 or a little less...

for example
this place is in Brooklyn and is alright.

but this one is definately much lower than any other place I've seen. Like I said buyer beware. I'd try and do some looking into them if it were my coin.

Olympus and others are all bringing out sub $1000 DSLRs and Nikon and Canon are going to both update and fill out their lines, so prices will drop a lot heading into the holiday season, of course you can wait forever...

Wierd about the reseller ratings. When I first found this place a few months ago I couldn't find a listing???

These are probably grey market or some such. But for some it may be worth the risk.

Read some of the reviews on expresscameras.com at Reseller Ratings. Nothing but nightmares. You'd have to be a total sucker to order from these guys. Stay away and go with someone legit.

rival...i'm no camera expert, but when it says just the "body" that means no lens....the "guts" are all still there!

newegg.com has it for 935$ shipped. I trust newegg and that's a very good price for the Digital Rebel WITH lens.

I've read reviews about some online stores that only sell you the camera and then charges extra prices for all the accessories that should have come with it.

This is a very nice price from a very good company! I've been looking at these, but may wait awhile to see if they drop in price. Probably won't happen til Christmas time tho. I wish it used SD memory cards sine i got in on the Staples and ordered 2 256mb ones. Those who want it now surely won't go wrong with the current price and from Newegg to boot. Any chance these will drop to an even better price befor Christmas??
Oh, if anyone knows a place to get an inexpensive hi8 nondigital camcorder for cheap...can be refurbished by manufacturer...please let me know. i want to get one for my mom. Here's my email address in case you know:

The last thing you want to do with camera equipment is buy from a shady no-name place (and a significant portion of them are in NY/Brooklyn). They will "sell" it to ytou for cheap, then charge you exorbitant shipping rates and harass you into buying expensive addons like lenses and camera bags. Then when you do get the camera, you'll be delighted to learn it is a "gray market" model with no warranty from canon.

Well, you got the first one right....

You could just mail me a check and you'd probably come out the same, nothing to show for it.

The Newegg price of $935 shipped is pretty tough to beat right now. Buy.com has it for $915 + about $9 shipping, but they have been out of stock for a couple weeks.

Also available from Goodguys.com for $949 shipped.

Bought mine from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago when they had the 10% off coupons. This is probably a YMMV thing though as the back of the coupon states specifically that it is not good for DSLR's. Customer service had no problem giving me the discount though...so it's worth a shot next time Best Buy has another one of their coupon sales.

I wish this was legit but for me it smells too fishy.

To go from $800-900 to $599 is to far a reach to me.

If anyone is going to try this.... Good Luck!
You've got more balls than I or just too much money.

Buy.com has it for 913.99 now, but with a 1-2 week wait? Too bad I can't afford it anymore since all my bills seem to have come at the same time...

The coupon states no DSLR's now? I got the kit back in November at BB with a 10% coupon ($899 AC) and bought their Product Replacement Plan for $100, which IMO is worth every penny. The coupon I used then (preferred customer thing) didn't mention anything about DSLR restrictions. Of course I haven't gotten any Preferred Customer weekend coupons since then (nor the $50 in Reward Zone certificates I should be receiving from the purchase) so who knows.

Hmm. So I could buy a 1000 of these, and sell them each for a $300 profit on ebay. Looks like I can quit my Job!

Thanks for a great read on resellerratings. 12 pages of hilarious very dissatisfied feedbacks.

Here are some partial high lights

I said, "Cancel the order or I am calling the authorities, the Better Business Bureau, the New Jersey State Attorney General's office, the police, etc." Greg replied with "Do you know who I am? You have no idea who I am or what I can do" then added some threats. Real threats. I can't include those threats because they are now being investigated by the police.

I placed the order online for a Canon Digital Rebel & Sony TRV950 camcorder for $2,271. When I called to confirm, the salesperson (Vince) immediately tried to add an accessory package bringing the value to $4,700! When I told him no, that was too much, he repeatedly offered other packages lowering the amount each time. He was actually getting angry with me for not accepting these "deals" he was offering, insisting they were "insanely good" values. Though I insisted they were outside of my budget. Finally after 50 minutes of a rude high-pressure sales pitch, I accepted a package bringing the total up to $2999. But after I hung up, I decided that I wasn't happy with that "deal" & felt ripped off & wanted to cancel my order. When I called, he yelled at me for having "buyers remorse" & insisted I don't cancel & that I should be happy with my deal because he only was making $18 in commission after a 50 minute phone call. I told him to just cancel my order & he refused & hung up on me. When I tried calling back (several times) I couldn't get anybody to cancel it for me, though one guy said it's cancelled but I didn't believe him & I ended up cancelling my credit card. The next day I got a call from them inquiring as to why my card didn't work, of course they didn't cancel it.

they con me out of $158 for what they claim to be 'shipping and handling' of the package, and this was charged on a 5lb UPS ground shipment

When I showed my frustration with the approach, your salesperson was very rude and unprofessional. He actually said that "I must have woke-up on the wrong side of the bed" and that "being asked to order a filter must be a crime in Mississippi."

-------------------------------------------------
Those are even funnier...

from "frankx" with 1 post?:
I contacted this store via phone and after ordering my Fuji S7000 camera, was contacted within 30 minutes of hte order to confirm that I was the one who actually ordered the product. GREAT SECURITY. During the same call, the sales person offerd me a free case with my camera,He assured me that the product would be sent out first thing in the morning. Due to a trip and my other camera breaking, I needed it right away. Shortly after walking into the office this morning, the camera was sitting there, waiting for me to pick it up. All the contents were in the box with the invoice. Everything was perfectly packaged and the entire experience was fantastic. Any time I need something that this company has, I will be purchasing it from them. The other nice thing,ExpressCameras had the lowest prices, which was a PLUS. FANTASTIC COMPANY, GREAT SERVICE.THANKS"

from "bob223" who has posted 1 review:
I have used ExpressCameras for years, purchasing a couple of high end and lower-end cameras, lenses, accessories, you name it. I know for a "fact" this is one of the best most reputable merchants,They have been a professional photographer's source to pros around the States,They seem to follow the philosophy of simple honesty, courtesy and 100% customer satisfaction. I've read some of the negative reviews here, and I've also during my years of being in photography purchased from other NY vendors and elsewhere, some of them "huge" disappointments and loss of money and nerves.I would bet anybody anything expresscameras would go the extra mile "every single time" for its customers, to make sure they're satisfied, one way or the other. This is why they have the reputation for being the Best. However for expresscameras I would write nothing but the best anytime. It's simpy the Truth."i will tell everyone i know to use expresscameras.
