Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there was a max amount AMEX rebates per item/transaction. I think it was $200 (or maybe $150 - two different CSR said different things ). So this deal looks like a no go.

Not to shoot down this deal so dont take it personally, but are Amex Blue BVG's considered a hotdeal? I mean, BVG's are hot on their own so you can name practically anything and get a BVG on it.

Theres no way Amex can sustain the program because theres alot of money to be lost by them considering the huge price diffs from retail and the web.

But as for your deal. Getting the G1 at $799 at a B&M would mean roughly $70 in tax. so you may be better off just finding a webstore thats not in your state and eat the shipping costs instead of going through the hassle.

How about getting the G1 from Wolf Camera? That's where I got mine for $799, and I pricematch with another online store using AMEX Blue BVG.

I pay the sales tax no matter where I buy my stuff... its the law, so I guess for me the tax savings point is moot at least for me. I understand your point about the amex/hotdeal thing. I posted because I thought that perhaps there was someone out there who didn't consider it as an option, or didn't think it really worked. Some may have thought that getting an Amex blue card IGHT be a good idea vs. (at least for now as you mentioned it probably won't last) , that it is a great idea.
