canon i450 - any good?

the tests at THG seem to show it better than the i550 which i was gonna buy and it is cheaper - what reson not to buy it?
also does it have separate colour/black cartridges? i couldnt work out why it was suposed to be more expensive to run than the i550

The i450 has smaller dot size (2 vs. 5 picoliters) and higher horizontal accuracy (4800 vs. 2400 dpi). This is noticeable in photo printing. i550 in turn uses all separate ink tanks for EVERY color, while the i450 just has black separate and a 3-color tank for the rest.

It's quite a decent printer, but the colour and black tanks run out quite quickly.

Yes ... if you want the small dot sizes AND the separate inks, then you need at least the i850.

Any day. That's because over HP, you're just paying for the ink - and Epson Clogmaster printers aren't a good idea for the occasional use anyhow. Don't get me started on Lexmarks $39 printers for which the ink is $59 (and don't believe they ship with a full cartridge ...).

I just gave mine away and tell anyone who has one to do the same. Go out and get a Canon because this and for the improved quality. (ie seperate tanks and head replacement capabilities)

I'm sooooo tempted to trash my Epson C60 and get a Canon i450/550/850 now...I've started to get the horizontal streakings that are uncurable even with multiple head cleaning jobs...a sure sign of a clogged printer head

It's been over 8 months since purchasing the i850. My wife is never impressed with all the computer upgrades I buy but she was really impressed with the printer when I printed an old photo of us taken a decade ago.
