jhassi, I feel your pain. I had a 16MB and a 32 MB card but I didn't think I would go to a 2.1 MP camera soon so I sold it. Blah, I used to get 47 pics with the A50 (and DC240) now I only get 25, *cry*. Looking for deals (32MB or better a 64MB) too, will post when or if I find one.

question:

can I get a battery that is not from canon, BUT, is made for the canon s10 ?!
55 shots with LCD is not much... 650 maH sucks! firgure it would be in the 1000 at least...

well.. I can only get 4 shots ! lol... damn, I sold off my 16 meg one... wahoo, 4 more pics than original...

micro drive would be nice... 340 -> 170 super large no compression pics!

POST POST POST POST POST ! if ya know if any good deals on Compact flash... or the microdrive...

hey, you guys posting "oh only 4 pictures at 1600x1200", this camera does have two smaller resolutions, set it to 1280x960 and FINE quality and it'll give you 18 photos, not too shabby and 1280x960 is still quite good.

well you can get the 340meg microdrive for $209 from CitiTronics.com. I have no experience with them so I don't know the customer service and they're not on resellerrating, also according to Steve's DigiCam Reviews "the Microdrive does pull on the S10's battery but if you keep the LCD off you can put a LOT of shots on the Microdrive before the battery goes dead." So you'd have to invest in a second rechargeable battery, something I'm doing anyway.

If you want lots of pictures the Microdrive is the "best bang for the buck", 340 megs of photos for ~$200 or 64megs for ~$100. Not sure what i'm purchasing yet but 8 megs isn't going to keep me happy for long.

UPDATE: cititronics apparently sells a lot of items on e-bay, and the user name has only been in service since July so I don't think cititronics.com has been around that long and it doesn't look like they're doing that well on e-bay, with 87 positive they have 3 negative which is pretty high, and one negative was made within the last 7 days!

BATTERY INFO

________LINK_________

LCD OFF
Battery Shooting Capacity
Rechargeable battery NB-5H Approx. 230 shots
2CR5 lithium battery Approx. 400 shots

LCD ON
Battery Shooting Capacity
Rechargeable battery NB-5H Approx. 55 shots
2CR5 lithium battery Approx. 65 shots

400 photos!?! I'M NEVER USING THE LCD!

also at 800x600 in FINE mode you can take 33 photos according to Canon with that 8 meg CF, and 800x600 looks very good with this camera and is good enough for computer viewing.

Well right now I am trying to get a 64 MB CF for $71 after rebates and coupon (less without the huge CA tax). I haven't gotten it to work so I can't post it right now, but any better ideas for a 64, I can't afford the $200 Microdrive (it would be sweet through)?

Can someone please email me the firmware?

Canon's dumb site keeps ggiving me errors.. when the site does work, it tells me I have an invalid serial number or I'm already up to date with the firmware (which I'm not..)

thx

Are you sure your firmware is not up to date? I just talked to a Canon CS and they told me that the cameras that needed the firmware update were around months ago. Best bet is to check using the Canon software, the updated cams have 1.0.0.2 in them.

Take note

You can buy the display model if it's in good condition, since this is a clearance item. A manager told me this a few days ago, and they had all the packaging in perfect condition, so I bought it as a gift. Looks brand new.

Also, tried to resist griping, but I wish some of you e-bayers would not buy up every single one you can in order to profit which ruins the deal for people who actually want a camera. My 2.

stolen from techbargains:

64 meg Kingston CF for about $65 (if you are lucky enough not to get charged with that crappy thing called "sales tax&quot

$109 @ BUY.COM
-20 BUY.COM coupon
-25 Kingston Coupon (works only @ buy.com, egghead.com, 4sure.com - no staples.. boohoo)
+shipping +tax

anywhere from $69 => $75 or so.. pretty nice deal for this camera..

too bad they advertise these cameras without adequate batteries and memory.. Once you add all that crap onto it, you got yourself another $150

I'm so poor yet I keep buying up all these toys.. I am a crazy fool..

Hey there!

I just read through this awesome deal, and I wanted to ask if there is a GOOD SOUL, that would get me three of those and send them to me in Germany. This is not a joke, I am trying to get a good camera for myself and I am not willing to spend 500 bucks on one - this really seems to be an awesome deal. Of course, I would pay for shipping, all your expenses (driving there, getting the cameras), by check or whatever you want. If you are a good person and you really want to do that, please drop me a line, I would be very happy!

My email: summerwine@gmx.net

LOADS of thanks in advance,
have a good one,

Sebastian.

Well, good job guys, and I'm not being rude either. It seems like OM was hounded by callers, which includes myself, for this...
"Canon... Powershot... S10... Do you have it in stock?"

Staples has been hounded too. They've been terribly rude progressively throughout the day. They say they won't do an instore rebate. So all you guys who got away with it... I'll tell you: you got lucky.

I went to Office Depot in person and asked them to pricematch, said they don't pricematch clearance items but the lady was a bitch, think if i has someone else they would have done it.

I agree, at least be willing to sell them for very little profit (say, $300?) to the guys on here, not fair you guys picking up 6 at a time and shouting "Oh great deal! (screw everyone else, every person for themselves!! (break into "i'm an asshole" song))"

Here is a little information for those getting hassled at Staples.

My girlfriend was having to go through the usual Staples hassle over something and called up the credit department. She was very pleasant and laughing and joking and sympathetic but making her point while quoting the now infamous Price Match policy.

She extracted out of the person in the credit department that Staples has a
"NO HASSLE PRICE MATCH POLICY".

My girlfriend couldn't help but burst out into laughter at that comment. She told the person that she RARELY got a no hassle price match.

I listened to the conversation and it was interesting how it "turned". I think the person talked to other people as she had my GF on hold.

Anyway, I am not sure what you can do with this info or where to tell you to go to get results. I will tell you that the rep started out with not going to give her the adjustment for the price match and by the time it was over she got the price match. The rep said the problem with hers was because it was for such a large amount (and there were various circumstances). My GF told her that people have been hassled over a 15 dollar reduction in price. She had one CSR tell her that they wouldn't price match Bestbuy B&M and that she would have to go to a Staples B&M to price match. The rep said that shouldn't happen.

THEY WILL PRICE MATCH CLEARANCE...I REPEAT...THEY WILL PRICE MATCH CLEARANCE IF IT IS IN STOCK. If you are told differently you can pursue it. Tell them to make an order for you with a order number but not put the order all the way through AND document that they refused the price match because it was on clearance. Then make those phone calls.

It might be possible to put these deals through at the higher price IF YOU CAN PROVE THE COMPANY HAD STOCK AT THE TIME..and then go back in through the credit card department to get your match.

Just some info for you to think about as you try to deal with the hassles that make up "Staples is Suck".

The credit rep made an interesting comment about how they could be charged for price matches if they didn't verify. My GF didn't pursue that to figure out whether she meant their department or if she meant the individual would have it taken out of their paycheck. I presume she meant the department but you never know with Staples.

If anyone is still interested in this deal we did do a price match today at Office Depot. However, if your OM says it is clearance they will not do it and it does state that in their advertising. We lucked out with a OM store that just said it was out of stock. The Store Manager asked all kinds of questions. She even tried to play it that you had to buy an additional item to get the discount because of the way the OM receipt reads. She didn't want to do this price match. They sell the camera for 599.00 ..but they did do the price match.

We went to OM in Greenwood, IN and they still had stock. We took what they had including the display. The interesting part is that they didn't know the price of it...not even the manager. The manager was great and very accomodating. My question is how do they expect to get rid of the merchandise if they don't tell people how much it sells for. The price ticket said $399.00.

By the way, on another topic... if you have a rain check from Best Buy from the sale back in August of the D Link MP3 player our local stores got them in yesterday. Of course, we didn't get a call on the rain check so we didn't have it with us. The guy said he didn't know if they would include the expired rebate. If anyone copied that ad it would help those that have rain checks. If they advertised it at a price with rebate then we can make an argument we should get it at the price with rebate.
