Canon S110 or S300? Which one would you pick.

Which one would you pick if you had the choice. Canon S110 or S300, they are digital cameras.

if the price were right, this would be a no brainer...im not too sure about the differences between both...i know the s300 has 3x optical zoom...whereas the s110 only has 2x...and the s300 has a nicer body than the s110...but other than that i don't really know where the extra $100 goes

It's not extra $100. Compared to S110, S300 takes better pictures as well. That and 3x zoom is about all the difference there is. I went with the S300 for $400 from www.buydig.com. Well worth it.

well the $100 is one factor. i dont like how the s300 is bigger. i think the ISO rating is better on it. this is personal experience too, i have an s100 (s110 without video) and my friend has a s300. so i know them pretty well.

good poll, the main 2 differences that weigh the cameras out is the better lens on the s300 but it's also larger/heavier than the s110.

Agreed. I love my S110. Great pictures, tiny size.

i have an s110 and mainly got it because i got a better deal on it than the s300. one other big difference between the two is the dial to switch between features. if any of you with an s110 have tried switching between photo mode and movie mode quickly, you know it doesnt happen quickly at all. other than that, though, i love the s110. im sure i'd love the s300 just the same.

on a sidenote, if the s110 is too expensive, look at the canon coolpix 775. last i checked it was about 50 less than the s110 . it's tiny with a 3x zoom and has pretty much everything the s110 has except no slick metal styling.

they both too small but in my experience, if money wasn't an issue, the s300 cause 2x zoom just doesn't seem to be enough.

I wondered the same thing about 6 months ago, and went with the S300. I haven't used an S110, but I use the 3x optical zoom a lot, so it's worth it for me. I love the rigid construction as well. It's so sexy.

I was going to get the S110 but I figured that hey, if I'm going to get a digital camera, I might as well get the best camera I could, it's less than $350 at www.buydig.com afaik.

People who complain about the size of S300 - it's only a little bit bigger than S110. Not a big deal at all.

I picked up the S110 from CC today. It was an opened box item so price was reduced to 359.99. Everything is still included and unopened so I'm not exactly sure why it was returned yet. The display model looks really nice and sleek but I didn't get a chance to actually play with the menu and options. It's sitting on the table now. I'll play with it later tonight but in all honesty, I don't see the $100 difference as being worth it for going with the S300.

First off, I'd like to say both camera's rock.
Excellent styling, quality, size, picture quality, features, everything.

I own a s110.
As much as I love the small size of the S110, I'd have to go with the S300.
The size of the S110 is small, but it's just a little to bulky and heavy to carry around in your pocket (it can be done, but it gets annoying).
If you were to carry it around in a bag, you might as well get the slightly larger s300.

And 2X zoom is definitely it's weakest point. It just doesn't zoom as far as I'd like.
I haven't personally used a 3X zoom camera, but I can imagine it being better than 2X.

If you can get a S300 for around $50 more than the S110, I'd definitely go for the 300.
