Canon SD750 Video - AVI files

So my mom has a relatively new Canon SD750 that she loves. Problem however, she has been recording videos of my nephew, all of which are AVI, good quality but huge sizes.

She's not tech savvy, so her workflow consists of dumping her images/movies into Picasa, and uploading them to Picasa Web Albums. That's about as technical as its gonna get.

As far as I can tell, the SD750 can ONLY record in AVI (no MPG). Is there an easy way to get the AVI into MPG without much effort? (Possibly even automated so she doesn't have to do anything?) At 70-100mb per video, she is running out of space on her Picasa web album quickly, not to mention it takes hours for her videos to upload with their slow DSL.

Any ideas?

Record at 15fps or lower resolution. Although that does reduce the quality.
Or you can teach her how to convert the videos

Download a video converter program that uses presets (I use AVG Video Converter myself, it's quick and easy), show her how to use it while selecting a preset, and then upload to Picasa.

No, it isn't. But it handles quite a lot of codecs for the price.

Well the problem is that she uses Picasa to import her pics/movies right now (SD memory ---> Picasa)

Any easy way to select a movie in Picasa and have it load an external converter to convert it?

so you want a third party Web converter to convert the movie you already uploaded to Picasa?
wouldn't it be more realistic to d/l those movie first to local hdd, convert, then re-upload?

oh, I am sure you know this already, youtube compress the .avi / any format when you upload
