I have a dual boot Win ME / Win 2000 system which has been working fine for months. Recently, in Win 2K, Adaptec Direct CD and EZ CD Creator 4 somehow lost the ability to find a CD-RW device(I have a SCSI Yamaha 4416 and an IDE Acer 8x4x32 -- and SCSI Plextor Ultraplex 40). Nero still worked fine, however, and all drives could still be accessed through explorer. Then one day, I lost all 3 CD drives in Explorer. The drives do not even show up. Now I cannot access any CD drives in any program. Device manager shows yellow exclamation marks and states:
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drives. Upon reboot, they are detected, drivers are installed, but after second reboot, same errors. All drives work great in Win ME. I have uninstalled Adaptec software. I have also reinstalled Win 2K using the "Repair" option. No luck. I would like to avoid haing to do a "fresh" install, as that would require me to reinstall all of my apps. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
