Can't add a printer

I am running winXP sp1. I had a printer installed and working correctly. After several months it suddenly disappears and I can't add printer anymore. I tried clicking on the "Add a printer" in Printers and Faxes windows (Start->Printers and Faxes) but nothing come up. Any help is appreciated.

Edit** I got the irprops.cpl not found error when I try to run the add printer wizard from the command line.

Install SP2. Might not fix your problem but it probably won't hurt unless you have something weird installed.

Seriously though, I upgraded my wife's Dell desktop to XP Pro a month or so ago and it didn't go so well. It had a crap load of errors (I didn't even bother writing them all down). I figured what the hell and installed SP2. Amazingly enough it fixed every single issue. I still don't know why the normal XP Pro from Home upgrade got so screwed up, but if you really are missing some files or your registry got screwed up it may resolve it.

I'm sure there's a solution without trying SP2 but I'm not sure why you wouldn't do that anyway. Cheers!
