Take the time necessary to plan for the long term to set not just yourself but your own future family (if you're not married with kids ATM) and change your future by the choices you make now.
Be fully aware that leeches will come out from under rocks and give you the most sob, sad stories they can in an attempt to pry some of that money from you.
Understand that even finical advisers are in it to make as much from you as you can and find one that has a proven track record with helping people with large sums of money.
Does that get taxed or did he already pay the tax and you get the full $10K? what you do matters on a lot of different things, like how old you are, own a house, married/kids, current income? Of course the right answer is to talk to a financial planner and let him know you goals.
Doesn't matter if he paid taxes on it. Uncle Sam wants his cut when the scratch changes hands. Parents can gift children tax free up to a certain amount per year, but I'm pretty sure the rule doesn't cover uncles, and $10k a month will exceed the limits in like... two months.
