I dont know when it stopped connecting, possibly after the most recent minor update.

I installed the (supposedly) latest samsung drivers, the phone says its connected in USB mode, but nothing is appearing under My Computer.
I got a crapload of pics I wanna get off the thing but dont wish to send them straight to the internet.

Anyone else having issues?

Click the USB notification when its plugged in. Make sure it's connecting as a Media device and not as an installer.

Check your PC's device manager if your computer is connected to your phone.

Are your pics stored internally or on SD card? If on the SD card, then just put it in an adapter/card reader.

Also, as said try different USB port, different cable. (Simplest things first).

If none of those, somehow your phone might have been reset from PDA mode to modem by the update. I'd check using the (carrier specific) method here:

Lastly, you could try uninstalling all trace of phone drivers from your PC and starting from scratch. Drivers sometimes are a PITA. With some devices (not my Note 2) I've had to enable/disable multiple times from the device manager to get an Android device connected.

I personally far prefer connecting my phone via OSX and using Android File Transfer which always just works for me perfectly every time, no driver hassles.

You could also try connecting via Samsung Kies.

Not to sound snooty but I've already done all the normal troubleshooting stuff. The cables and ports and hubs are all good. They all pass power AND data to my other toys.

Its not showing up in the Device Manager but that isnt a surprise. Its clearly not making a proper data connection all the way to Windows. Since the phone says it is connected and as a MTP device, I should probably continue looking at drivers. I like the idea of uninstalling all the phone drivers and starting from scratch. That makes the most sense given the symptoms.

I find it very interesting that the first time I plugged my phone in I was able to transfer files immediately and now after multiple updates the stupid thing is giving me issues.
