Yes, if it's real kraut. Sauerkraut is made by bacteria of the kind that should already be in your intestines, munching on the cabbage and herbs, which also produces a couple good vitamins in the process, and breaks open the cell walls, so it's all easy to digest, generally.kraut and beer is a SERIOUS combo... i think there's maybe fermentation involved (whatever the hell that means)

OP: try some other sausage. You should be able to find a meat market or two somewhere around, that makes their own. It could be specific ingredients used in the commercial stuff.
