Can't enable Cool N' Quiet

I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out why I can't get this to work. CPU fan is starting to get annoying.

I have a Foxconn A7GM-S board with a BE-2400. Cool N' Quiet is enabled in the BIOS. Fan is plugged into the correct header. I can't adjust the fan speed with software at all. Also I changed the power scheme in Control Panel, and installed the AMD driver.

Is there anything I am missing?

Sounds like you've got the power scheme right - set to "Minimal Power Management" , right?

There's an AMD application that shows what speed your CPU is running at. Go to the AMD utils site at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Proce...0_182_871_9706,00.html and scroll down to AMD Clock Version 2.0.1 - that little program will show you the current CPU speed. If CoolNQuiet is working right, speed should drop to around 1GHz at idle.

The other thing I've noticed is that when I overclock my Athlon X2 the CoolNQuiet stops working - the clock speed never drops from the regular value. This may be an issue with my motherboard rather than CoolNQuiet in general, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Finally. . . CoolNQuiet itself doesn't actually affect the fan speed. . .it just slows down the processor. The motherboard itself still has to implement the fan speed control, which varies from board to board. My Gigabyte board has a util to tweak how the fan is controlled. A Foxconn board. . . may be different.
