Can't find SSD drive during Win7 install

I have a Lenovo x120e laptop that I want to install a Crucial M4 64GB SSD drive in. This was a drive I pulled from another system, so I know it works.

The drive is seen in bios, but when I get to the Win7 install it says no drives are found. I tried installing the AHCI controller driver here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001173 but the same issue occurs. I also updated the firmware on the drive as well.

Any ideas? I'm getting pretty frustrated, not sure what else to try.

I`ve got the exact same drive mate and had no problems at all.
Is it formatted to NTFS and the partition markes as Primary/Active? you can do that on another pc by hooking it up as a slave first.
Oh, And after you get it working, make sure that you go on the Crucial website and update the firmware.

Err, I didn't even think about needing to format it on another PC. I'll go try that. Thanks for the suggestion. I was already able to update the firmware using linux boot iso they provide.

Hmm, even after formatting the drive on a different PC it still won't see the drive during Win7 setup. It still sees it fine in the bios though.

This drive was previously setup as a raid-array with another drive, I'm reading some things saying I might need to do a low-level format, so I'll try that next.

Okay, I did a low level format, and now they show up just fine during Win7 install. Woohoo.

Eh? Can you give a bit more information on what you did, for the record?
