Can't get into bios

Hi everyone,
As my system boots normally I can get to bios by tapping the del key. What is happening now is while tapping the del key there is a keyboard error message as the system boots. The system boots fine and the del key works also. I tried uninstalling the keyboard and changing the battery on the motherboard. thanks for any help with this one.

Can you reset BIOS by using CLRCMOS jumper, or by taking the battery out.

Make sure the computer is unplugged for either of these ops.

If you are getting a keyboard error message then try another keyboard......

Try using a USB keyboard.

I would say "go to the general bios settings and set Stop On Errors to 'all but keyboard,'" but you can't get to the BIOS. And judging by the fact it still boots, it's probally already set that way...

I would try the other Del key (yes, the other one, located to the right of the zero on the numpad (hold shift, press '.')). I'm not sure if this would work to get into the BIOS, but it's worth a try (I'll try it on my next reboot). Also, I'd try pressing different keys during the POST screen to see if other keys generate the same error message.

The most important thing is to try another keyboard. First of all, is your keyboard USB or PS/2 (or even the old AT)? As for Spinne's suggestion, I'm not too familiar with USB keyboards, but I know there is a BIOS setting that determines whether the BIOS recognizes a USB keyboard or leaves it to the OS, which would mean trying a USB keyboard if you have a ps/2 keyboard could prove to not be of much help.
