I had issues on my Pfsense 2.0 release box so I switched over to an Asus Rt-N66 and I still can't seem to get a port to open per canyouseeme.org

Any ideas? And yes I've read up over at port forward I just can't seem to figure out why it's happening on 2 different routers.

What port are you trying to open? If it's something like 80 or 25 on a standard home/residential (not commercial) connection, then your ISP may be blocking it.

3074 for example which I'm told is for Xbox live. I realize ISP blocks 80,443 etc

I just tried those services you listed and I have a Teamspeak server and a SSH server. ismyportblocked is showing all my ports are open which it's not. yougetsignal and canyouseeme works. It is more than likely the ISP blocking the port.

On my Teamspeak server that uses port 9987 it is showing blocked, but I created a VPN to Europe and successfully connected to the Teamspeak server. I don't know how that is when the port is blocked from the results of yougetsignal and canyouseeme.

Try this. https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

I don't know if you have Comcast or not, but they suck! Lately they have been changing things and I noticed that even with the computer put in the DMZ and the firewall shut down all ports are stealthed. I just changed my teamspeak server port from 9987 to 18000 and it still won't show up as open.

I can but it may take some work and I need to head to bed right now.

I just checked ismyportblocked and it shows my xbox live ports open while when I test using yougetsignal and canyouseeme I'm told they are closed?????

I'm puzzled on this now........

Does the Xbox report the NAT type as open or moderate

Yes Comcast is my ISP.

When I checked on live yesterday it said my NAT was strict.

I'm on Comcast. setup:

Motorola SB6120
Linksys E3000, running Tomato-USB

I don't forward any ports, UPnP enabled, Xbox shows NAT Open.

Do you have UPnP enabled?

So I allowed the Xbox to go DHCP this morning, I had it on a static IP, and I did some tests and got an open NAT now.

Is it possible that Comcast blocks the Web based port scans but when I do port forward the ports are indeed open?

That's what I'm thinking. I did a port scan and got a closed port on one port, but the others are open. I connected to a VPN in Europe and opened Teamspeak and I was still able to connect to my server using my host name for my IP address.

Bah!!! I'm a complete idiot!

It's my Norton Internet Security that is the issue. The auto setting for the firewall is to stealth/block ALL ports. Grrrr should have thought of this earlier but I thought I disabled the firewall when I did my tests a few days ago.

Now I have to figure out if I can batch add the ports to white list otherwise I have double duty to do with adding to both my router and Norton.

I was going to post you must have a firewall running.

I don't like Norton. I do like MSE and the like MS offers. It's not going to step on my toes unless I want it too.

There was a nice firewall I loved, I forget the name; it died with XP.

Was it Sygate personal firewall?

I used to use that during the XP days and it was great.

Not sure but I thought someone like Symantec purchased them. Confirmed Symantec purchased in '05

It was sygate, I think they spelled it different then.

I wouldn't recommend it to a basic user, but for me it gave me all I needed.

I think the download was spf.zip.

Comodo Firewall is one of the best and I use that. I thought you had Xbox trouble port forwarding? How does a computer firewall affect Xbox???

he was merely using hte PC to verify port forwarding was working....

OP, as long as the Xbox says Open for NAT, you're all set. I also found the same thing as you, the Xbox doesn't play well when you set a static IP...I have to use DHCP.
