Can't get the right wireless security to work.

I'm having trouble getting my Notebook to wirelessy connect to my router using WPA-PSK encryption. It works just fine with WEP 128bit using the following settings:

- Linksys WRT54G wireless router
- SSID broadcast = Off
- MAC Address Filtering = On
- WEP 128bit
- Windows XP SP1
- Using Wireless Zero Config (don't have an alternative choice)

I cannot connect when I switch my router and wireless NIC to WPA-PSK using TKIP with a Group Key Renewal interval of 3600 seconds. I've taken extra care when typing the WPA shared key into my NIC configuration.

One odd thing is that when I set the Network Authentication to WPA-PSK on my wireless NIC the two options in the Data Encryption field are TKIP and WEP. Shouldn't the Data Encryption optoins be TKIP and AES?

Do I need to wait 3600 seconds for the key to work/refresh?
Am I doing something wrong?

Are you making sure that you're router is set to WPA-PSK also?

Of course the router is set to the same encryption type. In fact I'm simply copying and pasting the key from the router interface to my NIC.

Another wierd thing I've noticed is that my notebook is still able to make a wireless connection even when it is configured with my WEP settings (differnet key) and the router is set to WPA-PSK. The Wireless Configuration icon in the program tray indicates that it is connected but I am unable to "actually connect" and load any pages including the router admin page. I would assume that it would not be possible to make any connnection at all.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Try disabling and then reenabling the NIC card. Also, you might want to set SSID broadcast on when you are trying to debug the system at this point. I've heard there have been some issues of connection when SSID broadcast is off.
