I used to get this a lot until the doc told me to make sure i run hot water in my ears every time I showered and ever since then it hasn't been a problem. In the short term you can get one of those ear squirt bottles and fill it with hot water, this used to take me a good 20-30 minutes of spraying my ears with hot water to get to work. If you really want to go nuclear on them you can go see the doc and they have a giant hot water gun they use. It kind of hurts a little but it gets the job done and it feels like you can hear an ant's footsteps after that for a few days. Oh, and Icanhasfreeipodz????

Is this due to wax or are they actually inflamed? If it's due to wax see a doctor or naturalpath (naturalpath might be faster to get an appointment date) and they can clean them out with special tools. Don't try to do it yourself since you can't see what you're doing and you'll only make it worse. Basically they can use special spoons and stuff to scoop out the wax. It feels freaking awesome. I get lot of wax build up in my ears and sometimes have to get it done.

Yeah, I learned a long time ago that just turn your ears one at a time in the shower so that the warm water will fill up your ear canal. Just leave your ear to the side for 30 seconds or so. Turn your head upright and shake that water out. Repeat on each ear. Do it once a month/week. It helps loosen up the wax build up. It's not instantaneous, but it will assist the body's natural process of ridding the ear of excess wax. Don't use any instruments in your ear as you may impact the wax or damage your ear drum.

Shave your ears, ya bum!

Your hearing problems are probably being caused by your sinus problem, so nothing you do outside the ear drum is going to make a difference. I would try to take some sudafed or whatever the sinus medicine is now.

your hearing problems are caused by internal issues (the sinusitis) so it's useless to put anything in your ears as there's the ear drum that separates the outside from the inside, leave them alone and take the full cycle of antibiotics that you were prescribed so that you don't get an infection and eventually it should unclog.

I recall many years ago my sister was an idiot and used a q-tip incorrectly, pushing a ball of wax into her hearing drum and causing excruciating pain. The doctor prescribed her stool softener drops to put in her ears every so often to loosen up the wax.

Agreed. I take Sudafed (the real thing that the State of Texas restricts the sale of because of meth heads) as a decongestant, along with some antibiotics, whenever I get a sinus infection.

a friend had tons of wax in her ears. her doc suggested using Debrox, available at any drug store like CVS...
http://www.debrox.com/
once loosened up, i was able to slide the wax out using metal hair pin.
your results may vary.

As luv2liv mentioned, Debrox, or any similar solutions will help some, but I would avoid metal pin etc.

If your sinuses are inflamed it will still take time.

Went through this in the last week. Ugh really a bummer.

Hope you have relief very soon.

I use an ear syringe and sometimes the carbamide peroxide ear drops as well.

For wax I use one of the ear drops and then the plastic squirter bulb and it works like a charm after 5 or 6 squirts even if there is a lot of wax. I just use the Walgreens or CVS brand.

I have all that too. Just prefer to do a little preventative with the shower water in the ear trick.

Thank u. I actually tied it today after work when I took my shower. Its not completely clear but a whole lot better. Gonna do it a few days so maybe it will help clear it all up. I've been having volume on my TV to 60 over the weekend cuz I couldn't hear it. Well rt now I'm watching it with volume at 30! So I'm really thankful for your advise.

Gonna have to try that, I usually hate water in my ears...

I was told that by a hospital corpsman while I was in the Navy. It's not like you get much water in there like when you're in the pool. It's very little. You just hold your head a little off center to keep it from immediately going right out. You right your head and most of it drains out. You're not getting the was buildup out immediately. It just helps loosen it up so that it can fall out naturally. You don't need to get all of your ear wax out. It's natural. It's only when it builds up too much that you may have to clean it out.

My hypothesis is that hot water makes the wax gooey-er and pushes it in worse. I use cold water to harden the wax and knock it out.

They kno I can't hear them so they act like their talking about me. Lol. Did the shower thing again today and it didn't work this time. Which really sucks! Anyway my friend is bringing me that ear drops and syringe thing tm so gonna try that. Thanks for asking tho.

How about seeing an ENT specialist?
Honestly, rt now don't have insurance. Long story. But had pneumonia a couple of months ago at which time I found out that I didn't hav ins. Was out of work almost 2 weeks had to pay over 300.00 for just 2 of the 4 meds I needed. Been playing catch up bill wise since then. Now was out of work 3 days with my ear. Did go to doc so can't afford to go again. Struggling money wise rt now. But its gonna b ok. Somehow things always work themselves out. So just holding on till then. Lol
