Can't install Win 7 64 bit in place of my 32 bit version

Got a Lenovo computer that came with Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I upgrade the memory to 8gb and now want to install the 64 bit version. I download the 64 bit iso and extracted it to a dvd. At startup, it can't find the bootable files or something and ends up booting off the hard drive. Also when I try running the setup off the dvd, i get the message "This installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows". Any suggestions?

You have to boot off the dvd in order to install 64 bit windows. You can't just run the setup on the dvd from within windows 32 bit.

That said, it seems you are using a pirated version of windows and you won't be getting any more help here.

It won't boot off the dvd and it's not a pirated version of windows. The computer came with a oem 32 bit version of windows not both (32 & 64 bit ) like the retail versions. I download the 64 bit version since I can use the same product key as my 32 bit. Can't get it to work. Someone has to know what I'm doing wrong.

You have to burn it to DVD as a .iso. Imgburn works well for that. You can also use a USB drive, but I've never done that for Windows. Consult DuckDuckGo if you choose that route.

You only burn one file to the disc; the .iso. If you're extracting the the .iso, that's wrong.

I know its a long shot but is your CPU also 64 bit?
