Can't install Windows Store apps due to system requirements (Win8.1)

I have an Onda V975i, a formerly Android tablet flashed to Windows 8.1. Several games won't install, I get "Purchase error" and something about the tablet not meeting system requirements and to check in the details section for system requirements. Specific games I've tried are Dungeon Hunter 4 and GTA San Andreas.

The games work fine on my Asus T100 tablet, which has virtually identical specs to the Onda. Only difference is the Onda has a 2048x1536 display while the T100 has a 1366x768 display. I would think because the Onda has a far superior display, the games should work on it, too.

Is there any way to spoof whatever specs the machine is sending to the Windows Store, similar to the way it can be done with Android and the Google Play store by modifying build.prop?

I believe the store pulls your specs directly from device manager.

If you think the store is in error, grab

and post it on pastebin or similar. It could be an error....

Managed to find a solution for this. I hate when I find old threads where nobody came back to report on their solution, so here it is.

Went into BIOS, Chipset -> North Bridge -> Intel IGD Configuration -> DVMT Pre-Allocated. Change to 64M.

I noticed in Windows, my Asus T100 which works fine with all these games has only 32MB Dedicated Video Memory in Windows while my v975i with 975w BIOS defaulted to 512MB. Changing it to 64M in BIOS results in Windows reporting 32MB. Now all the games show up in Windows Store and can be installed.

There seems to be no drawback using the lowest value of 64M over 512M. Graphics benchmarks in Passmark PerformanceTest show no significant reduction in 2D/3D performance and in fact some improvements. CPU and memory benchmarks are significantly improved after the change for some reason.

I'm glad you were able to find the issue. However that has to be among the dumbest things I've ever seen. That seems like a massive failing on Microsoft's part to fail you due to having too much VRAM.

Though if it's pre-allocated VRAM, maybe you were being failed on account of having too little available RAM available to the OS? That tablet only has 2GB to start with, so you had a full 1/4 of it pre-allocated to VRAM usage right off the bat.

Yes, this is only a guess, but I think it's because it's pre-allocated which is why it failed Microsoft's test. The games must have close to a 2GB requirement and with the VRAM pre-allocated, the tablet was only reporting to have 1.5GB or so. It seems to be better all around to just let the Intel IGD drivers dynamically allocate however much RAM as VRAM that it needs.

The dumbest part is that the Windows Store doesn't give any indication as to why a game or app won't install. It hints at a system requirement issue, but doesn't say which system requirement isn't up to snuff. Probably wouldn't have figured this out if I didn't have the other tablet to compare settings with.
