There's not a single piece of evidence that points to the existence of god. Therefore the only logical position to take is that god doesn't exist.

That's your religion talking. Most atheists don't think their assumptions equal reality. It's idiotic to think any assumption equals reality if you think about it. An assumption is a state of mind kept by a person until reality upsets it and forces them to change it. A big part of the frustration atheists feel with the religious is the perception that theists assume that their beliefs equal reality. How could they be so frustrated with that mindset if they shared it?

No, atheists are of the opinion that there is no god. They operate under the assumption that there is no god. Although you won't admit it, your belief is also an opinion. You operate under an assumption that you don't recognize as an assumption. You only see it as absolute truth. Atheists allow for the possibility, however slim, of your worldview being correct. They always see that worldview for what it is though, a wild guess based on near nonexistent evidence.
