Can't miss PS3 exclusives?

I bought a PS3 yesterday mostly to play Demon's Souls, Metal Gear Solid 4, Okami, and Shadow of the Colossus, and I'll probably grab Ni No Kuni and at least one of the Little Big Planet games also. I'm not interested in multiplatform games since I can get those on Steam, GOG, etc. And I already have some of the obvious classics like The Last of Us, Uncharted 1-3, Journey, and God of War 3 as PS4 remasters. So what PS3 exclusives am I missing that you guys would consider amazing games? I like most genres of games except racing and Telltale style games. Anything I should look into? I can't believe I didn't buy this system back around 2009 instead of in 2017 lol.

Ico. In fact, get the Shadow of the Colossus/ICO remaster. Its great.

Yeah Ico looks really interesting. I was thinking of getting that double pack but it's not available on the Playstation Store and Gamestop wants $25 for it used, so I just picked up Shadows of the Colossus for $10 on the Playstation Store. I'll see how much I like Shadows of the Colossus (which I anticipate really enjoying or I wouldn't have bought it) after playing it and then determine my interest level for Ico from there.

Red Dead Redemption....not an exclusive, but you can't get it on Steam or GOG

also the Infamous games

Red Dead Redemption is amazing and its sequel is a big reason I bought a PS4, but I already have it on my 360. I only paid $5 for it from someone at a flea market who had no idea that game still sells for $20-$30 used. I might try the Infamous games if I can find them really cheap, but when I was looking at reviews of the two PS4 games I wasn't sold.

From doing some research Dragon's Crown and 3D Dot Game Heroes also look outstanding. Nier looks pretty cool too, and I have enjoyed the demo for the PS4 sequel --- though not enough to pay $60 for it at launch; Nioh and Horizon are the only upcoming PS4 games I'm considering paying full price for. I like to go to the local flea market to get used games dirt cheap so it's nice to have a sizable list of what to look out for. Most of these top 25 PS3 games lists I find at places like IGN and Gamespot are filled with multiplatform games I have already played on PC or 360.

Crap I never knew there was a PS3 remaster of the oldschool XBox Ninja Gaiden. Off to Gamestop to pick that one up tomorrow, especially since they only want $7 for it. I almost bought the original XBox version of the game today at the flea market I was checking for PS3 games but the seller had Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black for the OG XBox, and I didn't know if Black was a sequel or a better version with expansions (turns out it was the latter) so I didn't buy. Then after getting home I looked up the differences and found out about the remaster Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3. And then on top of that it's cheaper than what I was going to pay for the XBox original. I didn't find any of the PS3 games I was looking for but did manage to snag Gears of War 3, which I have been wanting to play for a while, for $3.

For anyone interested, the Playstation Store has Ni No Kuni for $5 on the PS3. I made sure to pick that up, as I love RPGs and the animation looks incredible in the reviews I have seen.

You have God of War 3 on PS4, I'd get God of War collection on PS3. God of War 2 is the best of the bunch.

Also I'd get the Metal Gear Solid collection.

And yes the inFamous games are really good, I'd play those.

Do you feel like the 720p remasters add a lot to the MGS games vs their PSX/PS2 originals? I might just play the first three games on ePSXe and PCSX2.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see one of the games is a remaster of a PSP version, and I don't want to play emulated PSP games. They always look pretty bad on a big screen. I might get the XBox 360 version of the MGS Collection though, as Digital Foundry shows better performance on 360 than PS3.

I honestly never knew there were so many remasters (especially Ninja Gaiden) for the PS3 and I've owned one for almost ten years.

I didn't see it mentioned and it's no longer an exclusive, but if you don't have a gaming PC, I would definitely pick up Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. I sunk over 1,000 hours into the PS3 version and over 500 on the Steam version when it was finally ported.

I don't keep my PS3 connected to the Internet any longer. Are the remasters only available on the PSN or do they also have retail copies?

The Metal Gear Solid Collection, the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus pack, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and the two God of War collections are all on physical disk. Okami HD is digital only except in Japan.

I'll have to look into those before I sink money into the collections. The God of War collections were pretty good with the exception of one pretty glaring bug, but I'd love to play the Ninja Gaiden games again and I always wanted to play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus but never got around to getting it for PS2.

I picked up that God of War collection for $3.74 on the PS Store a few days ago. And then the God of War Origins Collection for $2.49 in the same sale (both sales are still going until Tuesday at 9AM PST). I managed to find the MGS HD Collection for $6.72 from Walmart a few weeks ago too. Such a great time to catch up on this awesome console I missed when it was new. I have been playing the system like crazy since getting it. The only non PS3 game I have played the last two months was Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4.

And to go along with your God of War collection, you can get God of War III Remastered for the PS4 for $6 on Amazon right now.

Edit: Apparently it's $6 on the same PSN sale as well.

I would definitely jump on that if I hadn't already bought the game right when I got my PS4 in December.

I am playing Demon's Souls right now, and it's amazing! (just started). It's mind boggling how many Dark Souls games and DLCs came out since Demon's Souls arrived. I bet 80% of people who played all these games never even finished Demon's Souls. And then there's also Nioh, and Bloodbourne. Maybe I'll get to those when I am 80 years old. lol

I really don't get why the PS3 got phased out so quickly. Sure, it's been around maybe 8 or 10 years, but in my opinion it still has a ton of potential. I hate how the manufacturers keep pumping out new technologies without supporting them fully. So what that PS4 is much more powerful than a PS3? Does it have as much games for it as the PS3? No, so end of discussion right there. It doesn't matter how awesome the system is, what matters, is how much support it has from developers and how big it's game library is.

So many people push 4k, but PS3 games look gorgeous on my 1080p TV. And this is coming from a guy who plays at 4k on a PC with a GTX 1070. Yes, there is a noticeable difference between 4k and 1080p, but is it something that one cant live without? Absolutely not.

I am not advocating staying in the stone-age, but I don't support killing off old technologies before every last bit of potential has been sucked out of them. I don't play online, so I am wondering if the PS3 servers are even still alive... What are the odds of anyone coming into your game of Demons Souls these days? Probably, the odds are not very good at all.

I think the odds are zero, IIRC the servers for the original DS are turned off.
I played it a few hours, did not like. Wonder if I could get a few bucks for my copy.

I just finished Demon's Souls. It's an incredible game (except for one level that I REALLY hate, I won't spoil which). But it's definitely not as good as Bloodborne IMO. When you finish Demon's Souls you should really look at Bloodborne. It's so different from Demon's Souls since you don't have shields or decent ranged attacks, so it really forces you into aggressive melee fighting.

Seriously, watch these two videos made by a group from Japan Studio who did Bloodborne (and also Demon's Souls) and tell me you don't want to run out and buy this game the second you finish Demon's Souls:

Also Bloodborne is really easy to find for $20 or less brand new. The Old Hunters DLC is a must though, and that's also $20. A few weeks ago the Playstation Store actually sold Bloodborne with the DLC for $18, so maybe that deal comes back some time.

Yeah I'm really enjoying my PS3. Best $40 I think I have ever spent.

I was connected online and noticed shadows of other players and messages while playing through the tutorial in Demon's Souls. As soon as I saw that I went and disconnected from PSN because I don't want to see messages spoiling everything in the game and don't want to be invaded. I don't like online gaming either.
