I cannot enable my TV as an output device through my Radeon AIW. When I go into the Displays settings, I see the TV option, but the button to enable it is greyed out. It also says, "TV not conected", but it is. How do I enable TV out?
Connect the yellow connector on the video-out adapter to your composite video-in on your tv. Connect the black male rca plug of the video-out adapter into the line-in on you soundcard.
Now you should be able to enable it in the Display settings.
I've got the composite line running from my TV-out to my AIW video in, the sound is working fine. Everything is working great on this card so far, love the capturing, I just can't get the TV-out to work! I can't enable it in the Display settings.
If you have the Composite video-in of your TV or VCR hooked to the yellow female composite connector on the A/V adapter hooked to the A/V-out port of the Radeon and you have rebooted your computer after a proper install of your drivers and it says "not connected" in the "displays" tab of the Advanced display properties,......I'm stumped...but try hooking up your VCR instead of the TV?
cable could be bad, mine was and it wouldn't work. Um, and you tried leaving it plugged in and rebooting? Well...have you tried pluggin the out to your in and see if that works? That should work, and if it does, then something's wrong with your TV? Sorry, need more info (still).
Alright, I've verified that my video cable is OK. I have the cable running from my vid card-out to my tv-in. I've rebooted my machine several times w/ this setup, and still nothing. There are no other problems. Has anyone else had this problem, or know anything else I could try?
Your tv out is bad? Hmmm...are the pins bent? You know, the dongle thing you plug into the card? Do you know anyone else with an AIW? I guess you could borrow his dongle and see...sorry dude, don't know what else to say.
This is not a solution but merely a situation I have encountered with the AIW Radeon.
I have my AIW video out going to a receiver on Video-1 in. I have a line-out to RCA audio cable
from my sound card to the Video-1 audio connectors. I have my VCR going to the Video-2 in connectors on the receiver. I have the Monitor Out going to my TV video-1 in.
The AIW will not consider the TV connected unless it is physically connected to the TV.
So I have a seperate video only cable running from the TV to my video out cable of my radeon
I temporarily connect this way to start sending the signal and enable TV out.
Then when TV out is enabled I switch the cables for Video back thru the receiver and the picture
shows up. And then the receiver with surround sound speakers works perfectly.
After this when I look at the AIW properties page under adapters, it shows the TV as not connected but still displays the image on the TV. I use this to view DVD's on my TV for the
whole family to be able to watch.
(I did have to run AV cables through my basement to alleviate the mess of running them along
the floor of my living room.)

Still don't have it working right, but made some progress... I found out that my S-Video out works. The only thing with an S-Video port I have is my DVD-Player, so I plugged my AIW S-Video-Out to my DVD-Player S-Video-Out (makes no sense i know, just to test), and I could enable TV-OUT! I looped the AIW S-Video out to the AIW S-Video In and it looks good. However, the composite is still not working, so I am thinking it's a problem w/ the composite-out line of the AIW.
No, it does make sense, if your video-out is connected to a video component, it detects it as a TV, have you tried just hooking your composite-out to the composite-in? It could be your composite video connection on the TV is bad?
The composite connection on the TV is good. My tv has 2 composite in jacks, one in front and one in back. My DVD player is hooked up in back and my Dreamast in front. I unplugged the DC to test my AIW, and no good. I made sure the cable was good, but I think the AIW Dongle is bad on the composite line.
