Cant RMA lifetime warrenty card?

Can PNY do this?
I tried to RMA my 5900 se
its 2 years old. has life time warrenty on box.

and got this email today

PNY apologizes however the video card's life cycle has expired and the

lol btw my name is not john. Its either they sent me wrong email or they are not doing their job.

PNY's "lifetime" warranty applies to as long as the item is being manufactured and is on the shelf. I looked into this for a friend a while back. What a bunch of crooks. That's why I don't buy from them. Misleading customers is bad business.

The important part of PNY's "Lifetime" warranty is this part:

Lifetime Replacement warranty does not cover items out of production if PNY no longer stocks them. (Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.)

Atleast PNY has learned that this a stupid way to warrenty cards as it drives customers away. Starting with the 6xxx series cards they changed the warrenty to 1 year plus another 2 years if you register the card on thier site for a total of 3 years warrenty. Which seems pretty fair to me. WAY better than their old policy.

I agree, this is very deceiving. Lifetime warranty should mean just that. Its warrantied for the rest of your life

And yea, I agree that PNY is being quite misleading here. I've never bought a PNY product, and now I don't plan to either.

Hmm I think if your BFG card is too old they send you a completely new one, like if you had a FX card that borked they'll send you a 6 series. I think.

Wow, this thread reminds me of some bitchy customers I see at work that complain when the terms "In Home Service" or "At Home Service" are taken literally by them, and then they get pissed when they find out what they (the terms) really mean.

When I show up at a customers house to service their TV or stereo, they automatically assume that I'm going to fix it in their house, on the spot. Their attitudes really change when it is a major repair and I have to fix it in the shop. Most of them immediately bust out their warranty card to show me that it's supposed to be fixed "At home". When I inform them that "In/At Home Service" only means that I will show up at their house, not that I will fix it in the home.

Of course, I can't blame the customer for getting mad at me when it is the manufacturer/warranty providers fault for misleading the customer in the first place.

This reminds me of when Tivo used to offer Lifetime Subscription on their 40 and 80 hour boxes. It cost $299 for a Lifetime Subscription to the Tivo service, course they didn't tell you it was for the lifetime of the product, not for as long as you owned -A- Tivo product. Considering how often those things went out, that seemed like such a scam to me.
