I'm sorry if I missed something, but try as I might I can't seem a pm to xyyz, who just pm'd me. When I use the send PM box (per FT 4 help), it just refreshes the screen...?
If you mean you type the name into the "send private message to" box at the top of the history list, then click the button, it's probably a browser issue. I can't make PMs work properly in Mozilla for anything. Replying to a message works fine though.
Sure thing Zuni. Apologies for my vagueness, and thanks LE for your reply.
I'm using XP, with IE6 standard version. As LE suggests, I'm typing the name into the "send private message to" box at the top of the history list, then clicking the send button. Would any other details help here?
I'm using mozilla 1.2.1. It works fine in IE if I let scripts through. I don't have anything disabled in Mozilla as far as that goes. Doh. Scratch that. I had mozilla set not to allow "unrequested" windows from scripts. It is most likely a security setting in IE stopping it.
I don't believe I have anything disabled in IE. He just PM'd me regarding a FS/T, and I was able to mail him from the post he also made to my thread, so he couldn't have me blocked.
Since I could reply to his PM via his post, my immediate problem is solved. Still, I would like to figure out why a PM through the new PM screen doesn't seem to work.
Just as a side-bar to this: can the forms be rebuilt so that hitting enter hits the button for the field you're filling in, rather than just the first button on the page (which happens to be the search button). I think this is the only site I've ever been to that does it that way.
Hopefully someone more computer savvy than I can replicate this problem on their machine--I'm at a loss for why it's working for Zuni and others w/ IE 6 and not for me.
Check to make sure that the security settings in IE allow active scripting. I just went through the differences between Medium security and High, and that was the one option that caused the PM window popup to not work. Setting security to medium will allow everything to function.
