Can't stand the cold, where should I move?

Disclaimer: Weak rant

Don't feel like wearing multiple layers, sweaters, jackets, having to endure the wind gusts, the cold, I don't see anything special about snow - it just creates more chaos, who the hell wants to deal with ice patches, the maintenance of snow that many people just ignore. I can't go for a good run when it's blistering cold, don't want to rely on a treadmill and stay indoors, I'd rather prefer the beach and wimmenz that populate it.

No, I don't live in Russia, Alaska, Minnesota but I do live in the Metro DC area - what's an awesome, warm state to live in?

BTW - I'll probably start attending college in a year or two, thinking of Florida or Cali.

Brute heat might also be a bit worse than brute cold - I'm thinking Arizona is not an ideal place.

Kuala Lumpur. After a year of 32-35+ deg Celsius (oh right thats 90 - 95 F) weather and 500% humidity you won't be complaining about the cold. It's a constant sauna every hour of the day every day of the year. I got to love it after a while.

South Florida. It rarely gets below 50 degrees. South Alabama isn't bad either but we do get days where the high stays in the 40's. It hasn't been below 32 yet this year.

There is no perfect place, everywhere you go it will either be too cold in winter or too hot in summer, you just have to decide which is the lesser of two evils.

Depends on what you consider perfect. Ireland gets into the 40s in the winter, and the 70s in the summer. It also rains a lot, and has frequent cloud cover. That sounds like heaven to me, and I couldn't think of a better place to live.

If you're going to add in cloud cover and precipitation preferences it gets even more complicated. A lot of people would think a range of 40-70 is great, but a lot of people would really be irritated by all that rain and cloud cover.

I'm just going to go with wherever opportunity takes me. Even if I figured out the 100% most awesome place ever for me to live there's no guarantee at all that I could live there.

This.

Avoid miami unless you speak spanish. Broward and Palm beach are OK and are the most expensive/luxurious/least affected by the economy, as are Tampa/St. Pete a close second. Orlando does OK, but that whole area is driven by tourism more than anything else.

It rarely gets below 50 as above. In fact today was a toasty 82.

Things to note:

1. It's terribly expensive here.
2. The spanish culture WILL take over soon.
3. It's balls hot for 6 months. Everywhere has AC, and if you are outside you are a moron. I mean BALLS hot. Like you go outside and between your front door and your car you are dripping in sweat running down your back, unrelenting sun beating down and never relenting OMG its freakin hot! Here the OUTSIDE of your windows fogs up. It's ungodly humid. We have bugs that drive lowriders and say "BUZZZZ muthafucka!"
4. Hurricanes. It's entirely possible everything you own will be blown away in the next CAT3-4 monster (I don't mention CAT5 cuz you won't be around to recover).
5. Best beaches anywhere.
6. Not much in the way of colleges, besides some BS fake schools (ATI, Art Institute, Univ/Phoenix, etc) , but UF and FSU and even the local community college is not too bad.

anywhere in the southeast (save florida) is prone to odd temperature fluctuactions. you get the worst of everything- 100+ days and below freezing days. even in the 'moderate' seasons, the temps can fluctuate quite a bit.

i can't think of anywhere other than florida or [parts of] california that is typically nice year-round (florida is hot and muggy in the summer, though).
