I've got this old trusty rig for a year and a half, which
consisted of an Asus A7V, Athlon 750, 512 MB ram and
Voodoo3 3000. When I was able to upgrade I passed of
my old rig to my brother, but not before upgrading the CPU
to a Duron 1200 and replacing the video w/ an Inno3d
GeForce MX400.
It was ok for a couple of weeks but a problem started
appearing when playing games, the sound would stutter
and the screen would go blank. To go back to the game
you either use ALT-TAB or by using the windows task
manager (winxp).
This drove me nuts troubleshooting it. Thought the
trouble would be w/ IRQ sharing, so installed Win2k
using the standard pc, to disable IRQ sharing, still
no luck. Upgraded all the drivers, still no luck. Only
when I've turned off AGP4x in BIOS did the thing
run smoothly. Since my brother wouldn't know or
mind I left the setting disabling AGP4x.
Have you guys encountered any problems like this?
Would it be power supply or an odd problem w/ the
board?
