And Winter Soldier's (that still his name?) arm, which was strong enough to take hits from the shield. Also, Tony's armor couldn't really take much from the hulk, which is why he had hulk buster armor.

Iron man always sustained damage, which he had to repair or replace armor between most battles. These two pounding on him would take it's toll.

and Squirrel Girl defeated Thanos, because comics.

You're talking about Avengers 2 right?

Another sequel that omitted it's obligatory subtitle: The Search for More Money

All I could think about through half the move was how many buckets of fried chicken were probably arrayed in front of James Spader while he did the voice acting.

All comic book superheroes are exactly as powerful or weak as the plot requires. That is the only rule or piece of canon information that anybody ever needs to remember. Sit back and enjoy the show.

No I'm not.

Perhaps I am complaining about the type of content that you limit yourself to and so that is "all the TV and entertainment ever" from your perspective, but my criticisms are very specific.

Soo....why are you in this thread? Because that is the entire scope of this thread. What you described and criticized is inherent to practically every 'story' ever told. Even Jesus came back.

agree.

Looks good in a 1 minute trailer, but I see a lot in there that will make this bad.

First: Winter Soldier was pretty good as far as the "big hero" Marvel movies go. small story, limited heroes. It was something of a thriller with action and super heroes. Good entertainment.
Here we see, basically, another Avengers movie. Too many heroes, too much crap going on. Lots of people punching each other for about 2 or 2.5 hours where in the end, we basically end up where we started and we ask ourselves what was gained during that 2.5 hours of punching. Punching none of these people ever leads to any consequences. They get over their little differences in the end and move on to another movie where they punch each other for 2.5 hours.

Second: it looks like we are introducing Black Panther for some reason? How much is that going to eat up of the running time and distract from Bucky and CA vs Avengers? And even if he is just tossed in there without much thought to his origin in this movie universe, isn't that probably another failure?

Oh so its like jerking off but in the movie enjoyment sense.

With the flag on his face has appeared in Jessica Jones as this guy

Considering this doesn't get revealed until episode 7-8 you may want to tag that as a spoiler. It spoiled it for me when I read it the other day. I spent the rest of the episodes
(up to his getting his ass kicked)
trying to decide how stupid of a fit it was... but that's a talk for another thread.

Also, on the issue of too many heroes - it does not work well with movies, agreed. But, if you pick up the Civil War mini-series, everyone and their mother is in there. It is a matter of finding the right balance. And, Avengers 2 did not find it... Nonetheless, if you compare Civil War Movie with Civil War Comic, there is maybe 1% of the number of characters duking it out in the movie.

Furthermore, the 'event' that led to Civil War is FAR more serious than what is presumed or alluded to in the movie (Winter Solider's existence and being hunted).

Also, my hope is that we get... The Dark Avengers.

The sequence of 'events' in Marvel is:
- Civil War
- Secret Invasion
- Dark Avengers (as well as Dark X-Men, etc.)
- Hero Age (return of the good guys)

They can pretty much skip Secret Invasion. Even though Secret Invasion created the Dark Avengers. The events of Civil War should be enough to sprout the Dark Avengers.

You forgot "Seige"
which brought us Cap back and ended Osborn's reign..

Correct - and it's not just Dark Avengers, it's Dark Reign.

- Dark Reign (Dark Avengers, as well as Dark X-Men, etc.)
- Seige
- Hero Age (return of the good guys)

But, I don't see a Dark Reign theme across the Marvel movies. They seem focused on the Infinity Gems event. Maybe Dark Reign after Infinity?? I could be wrong on their end-game goals.

I highly doubt they're going to do a Dark Reign in the movies as it would end up being a complete mess without the entire MComicsU baggage to make it mean something. I could be completely wrong though as they're doing this stupid Civil War (I hated the Miller series.. just hated it and still wonder what all the villains were off doing.) and I think that's going to be a mess. The movies are starting to hit that tipping point where they're starting to shove too much in too soon causing it to go the way of all movies attempting to overreach..

Prior to Avengers 2 - they were doing rather well. So, let's see what happens thereafter. If they pull off Infinity Gauntlet, then it's mission accomplished frankly.

But, I do agree with you that it has started (or already has) tipped over.

In the comics does Magneto team up with Cap? That'd be awkward.

They've fought along the same sides in some events.. the first one being the original (accept no cheap current Marvel stupid story line substitutes) Secret Wars. They've never (as far as I know) have had any direct one on one team ups. It wouldn't be awkward so much as Cap fights for everyone and if there were mutants in need it would draw both of them.

I hope the movie focuses on this more, based on the trailer he's doing it "because he's my friend". The thing that makes it really interesting is Cap standing on high moral ground, not because he's being a bro.

If you're against Captain America, you're on the wrong side.

Ironman's armor isn't made of iron. It's some sort of crystal / carbon-fiber-reinforced graphite / whatever else the writer pulled out of their ass for the story they are scribing.

You forgot the part where the material enables the wearer to be immune from all concussive, mechanical shock, and acceleration forces.
