Does anyone know where I could find out the car adapter I need for an old laptop - IBM Thinkpad model # 755CX-9545-SBK??? The IBM site didn't show me which one I need... Thanks for any help u can give me.
hi there, if you cant find it from ibm, take a look at your AC adapter and see what voltage and amp it puts out, then you can probably use any car adapter with multi socket from a hardware store that will work fine, and not to mention cheaper.
another option is getting an inverter that converts DC to AC, this way you can use your normal AC adapter in the car or any AC appliance for that matter.
They sell a universal Auto/Air adapter that might work for you. The targus part number to search for is PA-350u and PA-375u. The model number of your laptop is going to be listed on the inside lid of your PC, not underneath. The item usually runs for about 119.00 from them, but it can be found for less.
You might want to look at iGo or Lind Electronics for their auto / air adapters. Just using an el cheapo inverter from *Mart may not be the best way to go. The power output from some of the cheaper inverters is a "noisy" square wave that might knock your power adapter's socks off. I suspect you'll have to spend a $100 or more to get a truly decent power supply unit for use with mobile power connectors.
