Im going to be putting in a system in my mazda 6 in like 2 weeks... here is my list:
Clarion 5 Band Equalizer
Alumapro 5 Farad Capacitor
David Navone Engineering N7-V LOC
2x 12" Kicker CompVR Subs
Crossfire TEK 50.4 200 Watt amp for speakers
MTX Thunder 801D 800 Watt amp for subs
Front: Alpine SPX-177A 6.5" Components
Rear: Alpine SPR-574A 5x7 Coax
Full car FATMAT sound dampening
I wanted a head-unit but if u know the 6 the center console is super integrated...so i decided to just go with a Clarion 5 Band EQ...pretty much does the same thing as a head-unit. It also has an auxiliary input so i plan to route some wires that come up through the center armrest to plug in an MP3 player when i want. The EQ also gives me gain controls on the aux in so i can boost the signal.
So far i have fatmatted the doors and trunk lid, still need to fatmat the rest of the trunk and the floor (gonna do that when i have to install the whole system, need to completely strip the interior).
I have my tweeters for my front speakers mounted in the stock tweeter mounts; i had to mod the casing a bit to make them fit and have them angled toward the windshield.
Stock speakers are 5x7's all around so i made adaptors for the 6.5" components using 1/10" MDF, they fit just barely.
I wanted to go with 2 10" JL Audio W6's for the subs at first, but i got such a great deal on the kickers i couldnt pass it up. The kickers are in a open/ported box.
I have finals this week so im holding off to install everything... it's gonna be one kickin' system once its all done =)
