The sams clubs are changing battery brands. So they have several priced very low. I needed one for my Turbo Saab and it was $16.50 plus tax and core charge.

So if you have a sams card and need a battery check them out.

I've had extremely good luck with the yellow and black battery (forget the brandname) from Walmart. I've put in 4-5 in various cars in the last couple of years, and all are running strong. Most of the cars are parked outside in the New England winters. For $50 or so, I highly recommend them.

<--- Will never ever buy another Die Hard again in his lifetime. Made that mistake once, POS failed at 2.5 years, and the "warranty" replacement cost me more than a new battery would elsewhere once Sears got done with its proration.

What I really hate about Die Hards is their propensity to die without any advance warning. That must be where the name comes from.

what kind of Die Hard was it? the gold series are made by johnson controls (same people who make OPTIMA and battery packs for hybrids).

Yellow tops only have a 2 year warranty. I picked up a red top from Sam's last month (6 year warranty) for my Lightning.

I went to Sam's Club and spent $46 for a battery... Nothing close to $12-$19 there either. And the crappy battery I bought was a POS name like Driving Force or something. That was the only brand that would work for my car out of the crappy 3 brands to pick from (Driving Force, Champion, and some other no name brand).

On top of that was the $7 core charge and a $1.50 battery fee (disposal fee???)

I know someone who's parents put one of Walmart's batteries in her car. It lasted a year or so then died. I took that core to Advance and got a silver battery from them. I would recommend sticking with Advance or Autozone.....maybe Sears if you wanna pay a little more for Die Hard. Don't waste money on a cheap battery that's going to leave you stranded and last less than 5 solid years..

Yes.

I mean, there are no examples of someone spending extra money on something like, say, a Die Hard and having it die prematurely. Certainly not in this thread, anyway.
