Car Bodywork Reasonable Prices

Hi, I got a quote of $1000 for about 2 square feet of minor dents on 2005 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan and wondered what others think of this price. I already punched out most of the dents but it's still quite bumpy (average 1/4" bumps on 1 of the 2 sq. ft.). I'm in the midwest by the way. It seems like shopping around for a few days would make the most sense to find the best deal but $1000 just sounds a bit high to me for this area in the midwest (not CA or Alaska etc) given the small amount of damage. What do you think? If you have had work done or know the body repair from experience please help. It is just a minor denting in the very rear right side panel by the tail-light that doesn't even look too bad. The place we bought it new from wanted $3000 for a whole new panel as the only option.. no thanks! Thanks for any help or ideas! webley

insurance racketts have greatly inflated the going rate for body work. My 92 dakota has a few parkinglot dings from a runaway shopping cart and they wanted over 3k. I eventually got used to looking at the dents and now hardly notice em. If the tards gave me a reasonable price I would have had it fixed..but 3k was so over the top they ended up getting nothing.

Just put a bunch of sand in the oil and get a new vehicle.

Bodywork is expensive. They have to sand the affected area, fill the dents, sand down the filler, primer, blend & match the paint, and clearcoat - and make sure the repair is invisible. Whether it's a small dent or a larger one, they have to do nearly the same amount of work, so the price seems ridiculous for a little dent. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to replace the panel.

Thanks guys, I think I'll go with "Just put a bunch of sand in the oil and get a new vehicle." I guess $1000 is on the low end after all. I'll call around and see if any place will do if for 800 -$900. I need a hot deal!
