Alpine. Your looking at over 200 clams for most things with MP3 read. For the money, you can't beat an Alpine. I have 2 and will never own any other brand.
Here's my response to this statement:
I have owned probably 5 different head units from Sony, JVC, Kenwood, and Alpine. So I do have some experience with other brands to make a comparison. The other units were good, but IMO not as good as the Alpine I put in my car three years ago. It has never, AND I MEAN NEVER, skipped once, or had a single problem with it. I should mention I bought it used. BTW, somebody else must have liked it also because they tried to break into the car to get it, unsuccessfully.
When I bought my truck in March of this year, I needed a head unit. No, I didn't go straight to the store and grab an Alpine. It took me two weeks before I decided on another Alpine. I gave them all a fair chance. I read the reviews, check at the specs, and the price. I couldn't be happier. Guess what. No skips yet and it plays CDR's with out a hitch, even during off roading and rough roads.
You're right. I don't owe Alpine anything. But they will continue to get my bussiness and I will whole heartily reccommend Alpine to others because of my good experience with them.
I suppose you never go buy the same brand of anything more than once. You're probably afraid that you might get branded as a loser.
I just looked at your nick PowerMac4Ever. You want to tear somebody up for brand loyalty? What a joke.
