Car clock running slow

I think the clock in my wife's car is failing. If the car sits for a day or so the clock ends up hours off. (However, it doesn't reset to 12:00 like when there has been a loss of power.) The battery is only a year old, the car starts up fine and all the other accessories work properly including the clock on the CD player. So I'm assuming the clock just needs to be replaced, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything in the electrical system that could also cause this problem.

According to what was said in a recent class, thus making me an expert , the sine wave timing in AC power is kept very precise, because if various phases get out of sync, bad things happen.

Plus, one power company's electricity must remain synchronized with that from other power plants, or more bad things happen.

I've always used battery-powered clocks. No worries if the power goes out. And with Eneloop batteries available now (rechargeables with low self-discharge), you don't even need to keep buying and discarding alkalines.

There's nothing wrong with your car clock, it's your car that's running slow... in the fabric of space time.

add some NOS stickers....problem solved...

you will even get an extra 5 hp boost for the 1st sticker and 3 hp for each additional sticker...

Sounds like an electrical problem if your clock runs off the car's electrical system.

I wouldn't think so since the clock on the car stereo still keeps the correct time...both would be off if the electrical system was on the fritz...

I didn't say it was a major problem. Maybe a frayed wire under the dash or something. 100% of the quartz clocks I've encountered in my life time, from wristwatches to cheap Chinese-made dollar-store clocks, have all kept perfect time with a good battery.
