Is #38 real or did you make that up?

#38 is true, but the information is false. US version is 1800rpm (maybe a few pre-2003 models could go higher in 'burnout' mode), EU version was about 35-3800 with 2 modes(possibly one was disabled later in life) and was listed in the manual, and approximately 30 uses was acceptable. Here in the US it, afaik, was never truly advertised but lowered to 1800 to avoid warranty issues of idiots using that higher mode constantly, blowing up the transmission and BMw having to deal with it.

So where ever he copy-pasted this info from didn't even bother to get it all correct.

"Switch of the stability system and select shift program six. Switch the engine to sport mode. With the hand shifter in drive, hold it in the downshift position and press the has pedal. The engine will rev to the preprogrammed rpm and hold. Now release the shifter. The car will launch forward violently and the engine's revs will climb quickly, so be prepared to up shift"

What is a has pedal?

1) Small pedal near driver side right foot that shrinks the penis of cocky drivers in other cars on demand and additionally has a 90% chance of making them not drive like a douche for the rest of day.

It works on used M3's, right?

Sometimes you have to tap the gearshift lever while it is in park to make the interlock engage and allow key removal. Not as flashy as your list, I'll admit, but this "easter egg" is very important to disclose to people that drive my car.

How much time was wasted posting this thread?

No matter ... it wasn't my time.

I wouldn't really count most of those as easter eggs. most are just features.

Some are legit easter eggs though.

the coolest one i've found in my gar is that, while it doesn't have a full info display in the gauge cluster, the odometer will read "GAS CAP" (or something like that, can't remember) if you leave the cap off after filling gas and start driving away.

*Disclamer: As an auto enthusiast, I love M3's.. but it's saddening to see some of their owners delude themselves into thinking a tilting side-miror is an easter-egg.

My car's "easter eggs"..
1) 300hp/2800lbs car - pulls on E46 M3's 333hp/3400lbs on the higwhay
2) 35mpg hwy / 25mpg city vs. E46 M3's 24mpg hwy / 16mpg city
3) Less than half the KBB of same-year E46 M3.

I don't know if OP has always been a ass but he's really fulfilling that BMW stereotype with all these "HEY LOOK AT ME I OWN A M3 WITH EASTER EGGS."

He's ruining it for all the other people who are modest and not an asshole Bimmer owners.

Urban dictionary's definition of the OP; except he owns the M version of a 3 series upgraded dbag

A simple minded individual who has let a badge get to their head. BMW Douches often believe they drive the best car in the world, and that everybody hates them because they cannot afford one. This ignorance affects their driving skills as well; cutting people off, not using a signal light, tailgating, etc. To a BMW Douche, everyone that doesn't drive a BMW is a "hater", and simply hasn't experienced the "ultimate driving machine". They often purchase the bottom of the line 3 series, then consider themselves a true BMW fanatic, better than everyone else on the road. BMW Douches are becoming more common nowadays with low lease rates and abundance of available credit.

Mine doesn't require me to flood internet forums with posts about it. Pretty cool feature if you ask me.

Most of those aren't "easter eggs." Wow, the radio turns on when you hit the power button? Effing amazing...

BTW, I think you meant to post at: blog.anandtech.com, not forums.anandtech.com. Don't worry, it's a common mistake.

I get over 25mpg.

I can still get around without getting stuck with 20+ inches of snow on the ground (even without snow tires!)

I have a DC power outlet in the back, I have 2 DC power outlets in the front.

I can carry two 24inch cabinet bases in the back from Menards without having to use a trailer or rent a truck, or even leave the hatch open.

Ok, not really any easter eggs, I have a basic car, but it works very very well for me.

Supercharged RSX. Lowering / tuning stock rich fuel map helped increased 1-2mpgs hwy on avg - I cruise under boost. On the flip side, I've gotten it down to 20mpg.. but had to try really hard.

That's not healthy with a blower, especially a roots blower. It needlessly heatsoaks the intake, intercooler, and combustion chamber and creates excessive parasitic drag when boost isn't even needed. Need a vacuum controlled bypass valve that shunts the upper and lower intake around the blower when cruising.
