Car got broken into

I feel so violated. I didn't even realize it until I sat down to drive to work and my seat was in the wrong place, and all my compartments were open and it smelled...like drug sweats.

Lost an ipod and my surface tablet. Don't suppose there's a way for me to find the surface? Supposing they're smart enough to reformat it. I didn't see it in my device list.

Oddly enough, my gun is still in the seat holster ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sucks. Car break ins happen like crazy here. So far I've been lucky, only got hit twice and it was not really a break in, I just forgot to lock it, or they found a way to unlock it.

I want to put a camera to oversee my driveway so I can get footage of them trying. Possibly catch them in the act so I can notify police... not that police even do anything anymore. They pretty much let the problem get worse by not acting on it.

last time my car was broken into they took some mixed cd's i had burned and left me some country music cassettes from some other persons car...i guess it wasn't a break in since i never bother to lock the car doors(still don't at home)

I guess pawning off electronics is easier than guns anyway, so that could be why they didn't steal the gun.

Here only asylum seekers looking for beer money break into cars. One broke 40 windows in one outing just to take the shopping cart coins.
I've never heard of other car break ins. This is why many houses don't have gates/doors in front of their parking areas, there's not a need.

My car got broken into many years ago. Broke the window, popped the hood and cut the battery to kill the alarm. They made away with the amp but I installed the audio system and equalizer so secured with hex screws that they couldn't steal it. Downside was that they tore up the dash trying to get at it that it did $2k of damage, way more than the cost of the system. They did left behind a screwdriver and some blood from getting cut on the metal plate so at least that was satisfying.

i have a shit car and the only thing in it is garbage.

when you look inside there is nothing of value to steal.

What area did this occur in?

I tend to stick to the rule of "If you don't leave anything of value in the car, you don't lose anything of value if someone breaks in to poke around".
That and no tinted windows.

We've had more problems with thieves siphoning gas vs breaking into the cars themselves. Hasn't happened to us yet, but a few of my friends have been victims.

Same thing happened to me. I did not lock the doors. They took the spare change and left a mess and also the kids CD packet from the neighbors car in front of me. I put the CDs near their car so they would find them.

Are you kidding? Guns are usually a wet dream for druggies as a ton of dealers will trade a significant quantity of drugs/cash for a gun, even more so if it's a decent gun.

I got hit twice this week. this morning my wife found a coat hanger in the driveway where the cockroaches tried to pop the lock on my camry. Monday night they got in my my car, i saw the dome light on in my camera and when i went out i found the door ajar, thought it was my kid did it because he had to get something out of it a hour or so earlier. the next morning he found his car door ajar with his stuff on the ground. checked my wife's car and they stole a couple of bags of candy.

the town marshal said he got another report about somebody's car getting broken into with a coat hanger last night.

i know its kids doing it. they did not touch the drive cam i have in my car.

its all fun and games until you get caught by a pissed off owner and get the shit kicked out of you.

im leaving work early today to adjust my cameras to cover more of the driveway and having a electrician come out to put up more lighting.
