I just purchased a Pioneer DEH-P7500MP deck that is labeled for 22 watts RMS (min) / 50 watts peak x 4 channels. I was looking to also purchase some speakers and have been fixed on the Sony XS-4624 for the ease of install, price, etc.

According to Crutchfield.com the Sony's have a recommended power range of 2-20 watts RMS. My question is do I risk any harm to either device installing the speakers? Since it will be in a truck these will be the only speakers in there, will that change anyting? Thanks for any input that can be provided on the subject!

One more question, what kind of size difference are we looking at between a 4"x6" and a 4x6m.

I would take those amp ratings for the head unit with a grain of salt. The best head units generally max out at 10 watts per channel. Way to low to drive most aftermarket speakers.

Huh. I knew this for nameless crap but I generally thought that if a reputable company was providing numbers they'd be fairly representative. I could see claiming 22 Wrms and then measuring say 16 but under 10 doesn't seem right to me.

I'm ALWAYS skeptical of HU power figures.
Look at a dedicated 25x4 amp. Now look at your HU....
How the hell did they fit it in there??

Hmm. How hard is it to measure output power?

function generator, oscilloscope and load resistor?
