Car Storage question

In a nutshell my driveway has become full and I cannot have this car just sitting in my driveway so I'm going to move it to my rented storage space. My question is instead of draining all the fluids, car cover, etc... that usually comes with storing a car would it hurt the car to simply sit in storage and once or twice every month take it out and drive it then re-store it? Or should I follow the draining fluids, etc.. steps?

If you're going to drive the car once a month, then no I don't think you'll need to be draining the fluids from it. Now if you said you weren't going to drive it for two years, then I'd agree with draining the fluids.

If you can't have a float charger on it while in storage remove the battery and stick it on a float charger at your house. Just bring it with you whenever you want to start it up.

I've had one of these hooked up to the battery in my generator for coming up on 6 years now.

Best investment I ever made. I was replacing batteries every two to three years before. The thing rarely gets used, but when needed, I wanted it to start.

You can find these cheaper.

i would never agree with draining any fluids out of a car for storage. put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and change the oil once you start using it again- that's all i'd do, besides maybe disconnecting the battery and overinflating the tires (to try and prevent flat spots).

but driving it once a month is a much better solution.

Drain the fluids?

Last I read, you only have to add a fuel stabilizer and/or top off the tank, overinflate the tires, and add in new motor oil. Starting the car every so often to charge the battery, or taking it out and rigging it to an autocharger helps too.

If you have salted roads, driving it once a month may be annoying since you'll want to wash the salt off.

Thanks everyone! I will have to grab a float charger. One last question.

If I simply ran the engine for maybe 30 minutes once a month would that be enough (this is mainly for the winter months so salt won't be a problem) Just so If I needed it I could take it out of storage and use it?

Driving it for 30 minutes once a month is good, just running it would not be nearly as good.

That or a Schumacher charger than you can pickup at Walmart would be good. Pretty well priced for what they are (I have the marine SSH-1500A).
