+A4-my personal choice(great looks, great interior, decent engines, nobody has one)

+Subaru Legacy GT-if this were a bit cheaper, definately the car I would buy based on looks

-Mazda 6-stylings too immature

+Dodge Charger-the car to get if you want presence(in black of course)

+Saab 9-3- very handsome car but has a small interior

+Volvo S70-awesome seats, neat engine sounds, iffy styling

-VW Passat-overpriced for what you get...for some reason I think the Euro versions look better..

Weak?? What the, 298hp feels fine & it accelerates quickly. I would wait for the 2007 G35 but I don't know about the pricing, there was some speculation it would cost $5k extra (so you would have to spend around $40k).

I was one of those guys & it worked out fine, about to pay off my 03 G35 in a few months. When I got my car I lived in an apartment w/ a roommate (still do, broke up with GF around that time which cut costs as well), expenses are split in half (about $1300 total w/ rent, utility, etc. - I make about 4500/month after taxes). Put $15k down on the car (parents helped me with $5k on it, I paid $10k). $375/month for the car. So it's affordable & doable. I have a decent amount of savings, I'm saving up to buy a house (whenever I get married).

here's the challenge: no TSX, TL.

So far the list is:

1. Infinit G35
2. BMW 3 series
3. VW Passat

Any suggestions welcome.

What do you do for a living to be able to afford those?
This isn't for me. It's for my roommate, he needs a new car and his parents are footing the bill.

Oh in that case, tell him to get a new Corvette.

I agree 100%. If is has to have 4 doors, then maybe look into a Charger or 300C SRT-8.

If I had that much, I would get a TL.

Out of those, get the BMW 3, followed closely by the Infiniti.

The new 2007 Infiniti G35 will be amazing, with better looks and more horsepower and just more solid. If you can wait for that, then get that.

Is this car for practicality, looks or for driving enjoyment?

There can be a car for either of those categories.

I've ridden many times in my friend's TL and that thing can take mountain roads like its riding on rails. I also like the more spacious interior and touch navi.

But out of the three you picked, I would definitely wait for the 2007 G35 *sexy*. Flash card reader FTW! If you can't wait, then the A4. The 3's are fun too, but I can't get over the hideous rear end - it looked so much nicer in the previous gen!!

$4500 a month AFTER taxes?

I must be doing something wrong.

Hrmmm...lets see. I make 42k a year and I take home about 2300 a month after everything is taken out. He is making twice as much as I am...and he has his parents buying him a 35k car? Am I missing something or are you a drug dealer?

I was driving behind a white Charger SRT-8 in my 05 G35 and was drooling. That car was Beautiful.

Yes you're missing something. When I first got my job I wasn't getting paid as much. I had Hope Scholarship in college so I didn't need any loans. I worked while going to school & lived in my parents house with basically no expenses (that's how I saved the $10k). Parents helping me by paying $5k off on down payment of $33,000 isn't really buying me the car as I paid just about $28,000 for it.
