Car suspension

My car have some squeak sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. It sound like it's coming from the front driver's wheel. Well anywho, I'm thinking of replacing the Front Tension rod bushing. Is it smart for me to replace the Tension rod also? Because the adjustable tension rod is $200. I don't want to waste money when the original tension rod works just fine. I mean, do they go bad just like the bushing?

There is no such thing as a Front Tension rod, I am trying to ascertain as to what you are talking about.

If it's what I'm thinking of, I know it as a strut rod. Basically a support that connects to the frame on end and the other end connects to the lower control arm to provide support against forward and backward movement of the lower control arm. I have a pic of the one on my Rambler and the bushing for it is on the end connected to the frame.

If it's anything like that then as long as the rod is in good shape, not rusted out or anything you can reuse it no problem. If that's not what a tension rod is then I have no clue.

If you can find them, you can just replace the bushings, if not, then you will have to replace the entire assembly.

Ahhh yeah thats a strut rod, but the Nissan version. It's adjustable so they can set the wheel alignment right Rog? If the rod isn't worn where the bushing was, I'd think you'd be fine to reuse it. If that opening is elongated or stretched in anyway due to the old bushing disintegrating you shoudl probably replace it. My 2 cents.

Oh alright. Thanks guys, Do you think it's going to take a long time to do this if i have the Strut Rod & Bushing replaced?

2-3 hours, then have the front suspension realigned.

Depends on if the guy does it a lot. I think it would take me probably 4 hours to do it so a mechanic should be able to do it quicker. So figure two hours I'd say cause they'll also have to align the wheels again after he does it.
