Car wax that reduces police radar detection

I'm not sure why the mods locked my post for this earlier without an explanation and seeing as it is legal and does not violate any FCC rules. I'm not condoning speeding, but I've been pulled over twice and have been clocked above 10mph of what my actual speed was. Since I could not dispute the radar gun I had to pay the fines. This would have helped me.

They're having a special going on now.. it used to be 39.99 but now its 29.99 plus free 2day fedex shipping.. so far it looks legit to me.. I read a bunch of reviews and stuff and its proven to do what it claims it does.. anyone tried this yet?

http://www.radiantlabs.com/Test_Results/sgradx.cfm

"Stealth Guard??s use of Rad-X? is in full compliance with all current and foreseeable FCC regulatory standards."

Stealth Guard as Radar Absorbing Material

Up to a 13% reduction in detection range at three frequencies: X (original police radar), K (most prevalent police radar) , KA and IR (called "Laser&quot.

By covering all of the metallic surfaces of your car with Stealth Guard? Car Wax, you will effectively reduce your cars Radar Cross Section, which determines the range at which Police Radars "lock on" to your vehicle. Despite only a small reduction in Radar Cross Section, this reduction can have a tremendous impact. When used in conjunction with a radar detector this reduction can make all the difference by allowing MORE time in which you can brake to legal speeds after hearing an alert.

Being that it's a car wax, you'd have to reapply it quite often if you want the full effect of whatever it's advertising.

yeah, but can you set your car on fire and not have any damage, like that other infomercial crap?

From what I have read,
is that Speedometers in general are not that accurate. Alot of things can change how accurate your speedometer is, such as new or old tires.
So you can pretty easily fight speeding tickets that are not to extreme (5-10 over, etc).

Hmm.
Does this stuff come with an invisible add-in that helps protect agauinst rust, for only $20 more?

Although it's not technically impossible for something like this to work (different molocules absorb different frequencies of light) the effectiveness is probably worthless. It wont make them think you're going any slower, if it works at 15% "blocking" then their range is cut by %15... they say this gives you more time to break, but that only assumes you actually *see* or detect the cop before you're "in range." This isn't a hot deal... it's not a scam, either. I just dont think this should be posted here.

Hahah I actually discovered that the act of setting your car on fire with lighter fluid is a fluke. Most any car without any wax and such and with a clean hood would withstand any lighter fluid that is burned. The heat rises so fast off the hood that the hood is actually only warm to the touch.

The question remains however: How is this a hot deal?
It isnt. Thats why the mods locked the first one and will shortly lock this one.

"Up to a 13% reduction..."

That is weasel language that means: This product decreases your chance of being caught by 0.0000000000001%. On a good day.

Edit: spelling.

Jim - regardless, it might be a hot deal to some, not to others. It was locked because he didn't post a link to the actual site.

You can dispute radar gun readings. There is proper usage of a gun and improper usage. The guns rely on the use of the doppler effect to gauge speed. The problem with this is, the higher the degreee of deflection of the cop car from your travelled direction the greater the error. Exceeding 5^ deflection will often yield gun readings that are in excess of 10mph in error. If a cop hits you from a 30^ angle with a gun and pulls you over give him sh!t for it (always be polite). If he gives you the ticket anyway go to court and dispute it, if your willing to fight get the judge to knock the speed over below 5mph and to drop the fine. You will still get the points on your license but your insurance won't care and you won't pay any fine.

I just happened to come upon it and they "supposedly" dropped their prices.. so I figured someone in here might be interested in it.. I know that half of the stuff in the hot deals forum don't interest me that much, regardless of whether or not its a hot deal, but I don't go flaming them for it.. I go to the ones that interest me, and skip the ones that don't.. anyway, no point in arguing this.. I just hoped someone got something useful out of my post

btw.. this product is first and foremost a wax that is a little better than blue corral and some of the other good waxes out there.. the radar reduction thing is just an addon

Even the test results supplied by them says this.

<< However, it must be noted that traditional targeting range of radar guns for speed enforcement is usually less than 1/4 mile, i.e. 1,320 feet. The product had no effect on prohibiting the radar guns from getting a lock on the target vehicle within this normal targeting range. >>

Military vehicles have radar deflecting paint...like the blazers that you see driving around. It's some wierd pitted stuff almost like teflon. It's the same stuff that they use on the A-10. This stuff works...so, if you want to go fast, buy a DRMO blazer . Swank.

hkchan is right with the quote. Why buy a product for some $30 that
says itself that it will not work under normal conditions. Keep
the extra $26 and just put it towards a radar detector or speeding
ticket and get $4 of wax at Walmart

Packet: This might be good advice in one place but will definitely vary by jurisdiction. For example, in Connecticut, intent is not a factor in motor vehicle infractions. You don't have to KNOW that you are speeding to be guilty. So claiming or even proving that your speedometer is inaccurate would cut no ice at all in a Conn court.

And people who have been dumb enough to tell the cops that "my speedometer is broken" typically also get charged with "operating with a defective or disconnected speedometer", which is actually a crime and much more serious than speeding.

Rahvin: You can "dispute" just about anything in America, but many courts have been accepting radar readings as prima facie evidence of speeding since the 1970s. A competent D.A. can successfully try a radar case inside of 30 minutes.

Making a big deal out of the "Cosign Angle Factor", described in your post, is not usually considered a real smart ploy, since the error is ALWAYS in the motorist's favor, resulting in a reading below that of the target's actual speed.

This product is totally bogus. However there are some things that reduce a car's reflected radar signal strength: 1)small size - small frontal area, 2)Rounded edges, and 3)Plastic body without metallic paint - Corvettes are harder to pick up with radar. To aviod Laser you want a non reflective car - dark non-metallic paint, no chrome, covered headlights, and a covered front licence plate.

ConnCarl is right. Violations of the Motor Vehcile Code are summary offenses and intent is not an element, so mistake is not a defense. Whether or not your speedometer is wrong (even on a car right off the dealership lot), if you are over the speed limit, you are guilty. Period.
