Carburetor instead of isopropyl alcohol?

Hey guys I want to throw my heat sink on tonight (XP-90) on my 939 3800+. Was wondering if I could use carburetor cleaner instead of isopropyl alcohol.

The arctic silver 5 instructions say you can use carburetor cleaner to clean the old thermal paste off if there is any, but doesn't say if you HAVE to clean it with alcohol afterwards. Thanks

The carb cleaner will not leave a residue, so go for it.

yea thats what i was thinking was just confirming to see if there was a specific reason to use alcohol.

got tons of the carb cleaner so I didn't want to waste 10 bucks or whatever

I thought carburator cleaner does leave a residue...
I know acetone does not on the other hand. Much more effective than alcohol IMHO.

nah no residue, just a sweet smell =)
