I just need to run office apps and Bloomberg apps properly, and Excel. (not a gamer). I was just curious if there was a card that won't go beyond the power supply rating of my dell 3020 (290W), that perhaps offer 1gb instead of 512mb. It's no big deal 2460 should suffice considering I've got a intel i7.
also, from research and dell online, it seems you can't run both integrated graphic card & the separate card. so basically I cant get separate card and plug in 2 monitors, and then 3rd monitor plug it in integrated. it's either I can use.
thanks again!
Thanks for the update. Yes, you have some options available for you such as GTX750Ti, GTX950, GTX960, R9 380, etc. but I don't see the use in any of these cards since you aren't gaming. You also already have a 512GB SSD. There isn't much you can do really to speed up your system at this point without getting a faster CPU and a more expensive PCI Express M.2 SSD like the Samsung 950 Pro. Even that M.2 SSD mainly benefits from faster reads/writes, not access time which is what impacts the real world snappiness of the desktop OS.
Also, as I understand it, your card already came with
4x miniDP to DVI adapters.
If you want to run different monitors, beyond 2 different monitors, you need to buy a mini DP to active DisplayPort/DVI adapter. If you are using identical monitors, you should be able to run 4x 1920x1080 or 4x 1920x1200 using just the 4 mini DP to DVI adapters you got.
If you need the most flexibility by mixing differnet monitor sizes, with different resolutions, beyond 2 (1920x1200 monitors or lower), you'd need to get one of these active mini DP to DVI/Displayport adapters:
gofanco® Gold Plated Mini DisplayPort to DVI Active Converter
Specifications
- PC resolution supported: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 2048x1536, 2560x1440 @ 60Hz, 2560x1600 @ 60Hz, 3840x2160 @ 30Hz, 4096x2160 @ 24Hz (Dual-Link)
If you buy 4 of these adapters, you can run
4x (2560x1600 @ 60Hz) monitors. That means your graphics card is actually better suited for multi-monitor usage than all NV cards.
