He's 10 of 15 in his career for gamewinning or tieing shots in the final ten seconds.

And he has 8 career game winners...just three less than what jordan had in his 15 seasons.

Given the bulls would more often than not have the game wrapped up, but still carmelo is pretty awesome in the clutch...kinda like the opposite of lebron.

Carmelo is going to have a very successful career in the NBA. He's already proven to have the poise and confidence to win. His clutch numbers are already amazing.

What were Reggie's clutch stats through his career?

More clutch than Jordan? highly doubt it, how many championships has Anthony won now with his clutch shooting?

Winning championships has nothing to do with being a clutch player.

Carmelo led the Nuggest from the sh!tter to the playoffs every single year he has played there, plus a no-name Syracuse team to a National Championship. Sure, Lebron is an amazing player, but he doesn't have any real accomplishments yet. We'll see what he does this first time in the playoffs.

but did the Nuggets not also get many other good players for C.A. to be with? i dont follow the NBA that much as it sucks ass to watch unless im rooting for a team.

carmelo's pretty clutch. I hear he has a drill where he just practices releasing his shot from weird angles, etc.

but also, the nuggets aren't a "great" team, as in their games are usually pretty close. maybe jordan didn't need to take so many game winners, since the bulls had already blown out their opponents by the 4th. (the later bulls teams, not the early jordan ones)

Wow, a 15 shot attempt sample size. Give him the clutch trophy already

maybe Melo is clutch in the definition of hitting a game deciding bucket.....but, being clutch is WAY more than just hitting the last shot.

MJ carried his team through whole 4th quarters, sometimes finding teammates at the last moment.

this whole melo vs lebron being clutch thing is way stupid, imo. when lebron hit his first game winner, i remember analysts talking about Lebron being propelled to the "next level" because of it. what a crock.

btw, they define a clutch shot as a shot within the last 24 seconds. this is a very subjective stat. check this out:

Q; How come Paul Pierce's incredible recent clutch efforts don't move him up more in the update?

A: He has indeed had some prime time moments, but many of them are falling just outside our filter:

vs Indiana - made basket to put the Celtics ahead for good and break the tie...but with 39 seconds left
vs Philadelphia - made a three pointer to put the Celtics up one...but with 27 seconds left
vs Denver - made the basket to break the tie and give the Celtics the lead for good...with 52 seconds left

Agreed, sample size is pretty small... But if you look at that list, it's mostly superstars anyway. I would purport that on any given day any of those superstars could hit or miss a shot given the sample size. 2 years ago it could have been A.I. or Francis, and Carmelo has gotten more chances in the past 2 years. It's pretty random IMO.

So because Denver has played more close games that come down to a final shot... that makes him more clutch than Jordan?

That's an effing joke.

My definition of clutch is this: your team has the ball and is down one point, with ten seconds left in the game. Who do you want controlling the ball?

I would take Jordan every single time over Carmelo...

But if you were playing for Denver wouldn't you want Carmelo to have the ball?

So those regular season shots compare to Jordan hitting game winning shots in the NBA Finals?
