How long do you suppose food would last on a ship with no power floating around in the heat in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico?

Anybody know what journey this ship had? My parents are on a cruse right now, I keep wondering if they're on THAT one. I'm pretty sure they were going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to Hawai though so they should be fine.
Imagine if something like this happened back in the days of the Titanic though. With modern communications and boats today they were able to get help faster, but back then, they were pretty much isolated. They did have communication but no GPS or anything like that. "Yeah, we're stranded" "please provide location" "The ocean" "Thank you, we'll send someone right away!" I guess they did have some ways to keep track of location though, looking at stars etc.
This happened in the Gulf of Mexico. Hawaii is deep in the south Pacific.
Pretty sure all the Hawaiian cruises leave from Hawaii and return to Hawaii.
It sank! The horror of millions of little umbrellas washing up all along the Pacific Rim reminding us of what has been lost.

Very funny.
Seriously though, it would take 4 days just to get to Hawaii on a cruise ship from Southern California. To get there and back would be 8 days leaving no time for touring the islands. To get there and back from the Gulf of Mexico would take substantially longer because they would have to go through the Panama Canal or even longer to go around the tip of South America.
I haven't check for sure but I'd be stunned if there were ANY cruise lines that do this.
For some reason I recall them leaving from somewhere in the states, but maybe it's not even Hawaii they're going to. I need to be more informed of this stuff when they go on vacation.
There are 3 month cruises. I was thinking about doing the around the world ~120 day cruise back in 2000. Looking back I should have done it while I had the chance. Now with family and obligations I can only dream. My next opportunity is after I retire. I don't know if I want to take the trip when I'm old.
There are many places they sail from in the states. Various ports along the Gulf of Mexico, along the east coast from Boston to Miami, Florida, California, Seattle, and Alaska.
Any chance you can get in touch with them? Cell phone?
The Carnival Triumph disabled Feb. 10 in the Gulf of Mexico when an engine room fire left it adrift off the coast of Mexico was being towed by tugboats toward a berth in Mobile, Ala. by Thursday. Passengers and crew have described a nightmarish scene of overflowing toilets, spoiled food and filthy hot conditions aboard the 893–foot vessel.
Raw sewage was seeping up through showers drains and passengers had only onion sandwiches to eat.
There are 3,143 guests and 1,086 crew on board the ship. Cahill claimed the ship has running water and most of its 23 public restrooms and some of the guest cabin bathrooms were working, though that did not jibe with accounts from passengers. They have described a horrific scene, with raw sewage dripping down walls and slickening corridors.
No cell reception out at sea, but I highly doubt they're on that one anyway given they always go with the higher end cruises. Mostly just wanted to confirm that this particular ship was NOT going to hawaii to be reassured.
Edit: Just found out they left from LA, so yeah they're fine. Different cruise. Just looked on a map and yeah it would make no sense for that cruise to go visit that area.
It's just that when I heard cruise accident, knowing my parents were on one, naturally, I wanted to at least confirm it was not the same one.

What kind of pussy wouldn't relish a vacation like this?
A non working toilet is one thing, but having raw sewage seeping down the walls of cabins, sewage and urine soaked carpets inside the ship where there is no air conditioning etc doesn't sound like fun.
I'll bet that the passengers on that ship will get a whole lot more than just vouchers for a free future cruise or something....
They are being told to shit in bags.
Jimmy Mowlam, 63, whose 37-year-old son, Rob Mowlam, got married Saturday onboard the ship, said his son told him by phone Monday night that there is no running water and few working toilets. He said passengers were given plastic bags to use for their business."

That's why I have no desire to ever go on a cruise. On top being a poor vacation compared to other places you can go, the probability of random stuff like this or crazy weather or pirates or whathaveyou is much higher.
So as long as the company doesn't kill or maim you, you should be thankful for a shitty vacation?
Pretty sure no one said anything close to that
