That's why I have no desire to ever go on a cruise. On top being a poor vacation compared to other places you can go, the probability of random stuff like this or crazy weather or pirates or whathaveyou is much higher.

I think Cruises are some of the best vacations you can go on. Unlimited food, get drunk every single night and not worry about how to get back to the hotel and when you wake up, you are in someplace new to go out and just travel for a couple of hours and soak up the sights. Of course, I never have used Carnival, only Royal Caribbean.

I've met a ton of people on Cruises and every single one of them is a pleasure to talk to. Everyone just seems more open on them.

The prick kid focused on the burgers so I reiterated him. The toilets quit working, that sucks but for 2 days? It sucks, I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but at the end of the day you live. I guess it rubbed me wrong that humans have become so pvssified.

Don't forget cold coffee. That was listed in one of the articles I read. Seems like a lot of sensationalist hype too. And I agree - its bad but nightmare? If the worst thing that happens to you in life is that you have to spend a couple of days waiting up to 3 hours to get food (do they really have anything else to do anyway?) and dealing with a bad smell or the sight of sewage that doesn't seem like the worst life ever. (Not to mention reports form some people on board that most people are 'taking it in stride')

Want a real nightmare? How about getting a brain tumor or pancreatic cancer that kills you? How about a warlord that drugs your child and rapes your wife before beheading you. Those are fucking nightmares

Carnival is the Wal-Mart of cruise lines. I am not surprised.

They need to design a little better redundancy into these cruise ships. I am not talking military specifications. Something along the lines of redundant fully isolated engine rooms so in the event that one is knocked completely out they can still limp home using the other one. With cruise ships getting so large 100,000+ tons and so many people on-board they need to have redundant systems.

i'd be really pissed about this if i was on there and would be pretty heated if they gave me a voucher for a free cruise on their line. i would never want to go on their cruise line again.

From my understanding they are getting full refunds of any money that was paid and they will also be getting vouchers for another cruise in the future.

There's a local group on that ship. They've been talking to one lady's husband on the news every morning, but he hasn't been able to contact her since Monday.

I heard this on the radio yesterday on my way home from work.

They are giving everybody a full refund and also a voucher for another cruise.

Everybody who goes on a cruise needs to realize that ships are in the ocean and have a bit of isolation. Technical problems can cause discomfort.

Looks to me like Carnival is trying to make things right. I have cruised with them before, and will cruise with them again.

As far as vacations go? Yeah, that would qualify as a nightmare...

I've been on a a Holland America (much smaller) cruise in the past and had a great and relaxing time.
